Just let it go, let it flow. Feeling open in the studio is what I strive to do each time I enter. I was feeling overwhelmed in my circumstances and needed to feel what it will be like when the madness is over.

Artist Biography:
Julie Gudger, abstract artist, has painted since she was old enough to hold a paintbrush. From early childhood through her studies in college and beyond, her work reflects the creative influence of ideas, emotions and expressions felt from the heart. Her art is inspired by the beauty in everyday life. Her love of water, oceans and sunsets is seen through the vibrant colors and movements in her paintings; whether semi-abstract or fully abstract, the horizon is always displayed in her work. Since becoming a mother, the energy and pace of her daughter has given Julie a new appreciation for the beauty in little moments of life around her. Her work, in turn, now has a vibrancy and depth of color that reflects the zest for life that her child teaches her. Julie’s primary media is acrylic on canvas, for its workability of the paint and flexibility of drying times. Julie’s work has been displayed in a variety of group shows around Atlanta, and also hangs in multiple office locations around the city, bringing boldness of color and energy to these spaces. Julie Gudger lives in Atlanta, GA and is a graduate of the Savannah College of Art & Design (Savannah, GA) with a Bachelor of Arts in Painting and a Minor in Art History. She also holds a certificate in Art Direction from the Creative Circus in Atlanta

I like to transport my mind to a calming place, inspired by memories, and complex organic elements found in nature. Playing with colors and movement, creating new compositions -- my best work comes when there is freedom to create without any strict plan. With intuition and spontaneity taking over, the result is often a surprise. To me, everything flows, and there is always a sense of balance and harmony that can emerge out of disorder. I love the ambiguous and mysterious nature of abstraction. Through self-discovery and experimentation, I am allowing dynamic energy that manifests through the joy of creating. The result is loose interpretations of anything that exists between the mind and reality, therefore each painting is unique and sometimes inexplicable.
