About the Item
This contemporary abstract painting by Ken Elliott features abstracted trees in a cool-toned palette. The energetic blue and violet brush strokes that make up the tree trunks and leaves are warmed by a deep pink accent throughout. The trees, whose thin trunks run to the bottom of the composition in front of a vibrant blue background and fades up to yellow gold, gives the impression of looking up at tall trees, where they almost appear to float and glisten in the sunlight. The painting, which is made with oil paint on canvas, is 36" x 48", and framed is 37.5" x 49.5". It is framed in a contemporary gold frame, is signed by the artist, and wired on the back. It is ready to hang.
Ken Elliott is an abstract landscape artist based in Colorado. With over 40 years in the art business, his knowledge spans well beyond the easel. Of his work, Elliott says, "My focus is the landscape and its rich store of ideas and inspiration. I am compelled to work from the trees, skies, lakes and streams in their endless variations. I don’t try to recreate nature (even Monet said he never got it right), or attempt storytelling. Instead, the works are simplifications and exaggerations of nature. There was a time when I felt the tyranny of the landscape. That is, I felt limited by making pictures of a place. Now, instead of making pictures, I am free to make paintings - art that comes from nature but is far more reliant on the strategies of making good art objects."
