Kurt Herrmann
Kurt Herrmann is a painter from the mountains of Pennsylvania who does both figurative and abstract work, but above all he is a colorist at heart. Although his exhibition schedule is increasingly international, Herrmann’s rural Pennsylvania roots continue to influence his work. “I’m very aware of the fact that even if a painting was initially inspired by something exotic, or an extremely personal event on the other side of the planet, all my work is filtered through my studio in the hills of Appalachia,” he explains. “The colors, silence, space, seasons, landscape, even the rednecks impact everything I make. It’s inescapable.”

Appalachian Dawn
By Kurt Herrmann
Located in New Orleans, LA
Kurt Herrmann’s paintings explore his fascination with the language of color and the power it evokes universally and subjectively. To Herrmann, it is not necessarily about the color, but rather how the viewer feels in response to a particular color. His Color Bomb paintings are a sort of playground or vessel for colors to interact and resonate in a similar way to how music is heard. In this new body of work, Herrmann’s visual vocabulary shifts as elements from the Appalachian Mountains (where he resides) begin to emerge, such as the landscape, animals, seasons, and even sounds.
Kurt Herrmann resides in the mountains of Lock Haven, PA and obtained a BFA from Lock Haven University. His works have been in exhibitions around the world and most recently at Penny Contemporary, AU; Traffic Jam Galleries, AU; Hells Kitchen Gallery / Tiny Tree, AU; James Oliver Gallery, PA; 12 Gallery, NZ; and Sidewinder Gallery, IL. Herrmann has also shown at art fairs including the Affordable Art Fair, Singapore; The Other Art Fair, AU; and Scope Miami Beach, FL. His work has been featured in Time Out Chicago and the Philadelphia Inquirer. Herrmann’s paintings are included in the collections at the Hotel Del Coronado...

Ash: geometric abstract mixed media painting w/ red flowers, fruit & black lines
By Mat Tomezsko
Located in Bryn Mawr, PA
Mat Tomezko's latest series of abstract mixed media paintings are constructed from traditional acrylic painting and the incorporation of ash into a hand-mixed paint of his own creation. This piece is part of a body of work that uses evocative materials and imagery of fire, flowers, food, newspapers, asphalt, and ash to illuminate the interconnectedness of destructive and creative forces. "Ash" is a traditional still-life and landscape composition interrupted by broad black geometric chevron lines or "arrows" that divide the composition symmetrically in a geometric balance. This painting is signed and dated on the back. It includes all hanging hardware and is ready to install -- no need for additional framing.
Tomezsko is an artist from Philadelphia who creates abstract paintings, public art installations, and community art projects based around participation and everyday visual language. His approach to composition is informed by mid-century formalism and conceptualism. His work was recognized by the 2017 Americans for the Arts Public Art Network Year in Review for outstanding public art. Tomezsko’s work has been exhibited at numerous art spaces regionally and nationally, including the Crane Arts, Woodmere Art Museum, the Center For Emerging Visual Artists (CFEVA), and Wexler Gallery in Philadelphia; Lillstreet Art Center in Chicago, IL; the Delaware Contemporary in Wilmington, DE; and Thomas Hunter Projects in New York, NY. He has created several notable public art projects including "14 Movements: A Symphony in Color and Words," a mile-long temporary mural installed in downtown Philadelphia during the 2016 Democratic National Convention; "Look Long and Look Good," a series of 30 paintings currently installed along Main Street in Manayunk; and "Flowering Axes," a mural in the 5th Street Vehicular Tunnel underneath the Ben Franklin Bridge.
His work is in the collection of The Wharton...
