About the Item
"Brilliantly Colored Grid of Small Abstract Expressionist Paintings," Oil on Canvas, 64 x 64 Inches, is a lush abstraction, very fluid in style of all colors (red, yellow, green, blue, orange, pink, burgundy, white and black). These individual small canvases measuring 8 x 8 inches each have
been placed with 6 inches in between each painting, top and bottom ,however that particular spacing is optional so the overall size can be amended.
All paintings are sold individually as well for $650 each. Holt also considers these 8 x 8 inch canvases as studies for commissioned works that can be scaled up in any size, price on request.
Currently existing is a series of 30 x 30 inch abstractions, 36 x 36 inch abstractions, and 40 x 40 inch abstractions.
Holt has an exquisite sense of color and a masterful touch, these works shimmer and sparkle. The paint surface is heavy impasto. The paintings are unframed, the sides are white so framing is not necessary.
Smaller groupings are also a possibility for installations.
Linda Holt was raised in Philadelphia and lived in England, Alabama and Virginia before attending the Paris American High School and graduating from Skidmore College with a BS in fine art in 1970. She received an MFA in Painting from the University of Pennsylvania where she studied with Neil Welliver. Holt’s paintings have been seen in 19 one-person exhibitions, over 50 group exhibitions, and in addition to numerous private collections, Holt’s paintings are included in many public collections including the Wichita Center for the Arts, Wellington Management, the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, Fidelity Investments, Mass General Hospital, and the Seaport and Reef Hotels.
Selected reviews include articles in “The Boston Globe,” “Art New England,” and the “Houston Chronicle.” Holt was awarded the Nathaniel Saltonstall Purchase Prize in Drawing, has been a Trustee and Visiting Artist at Montserrat College, a Guest Critic at FIT in New York, and a Lecturer at the University of Pennsylvania.
The artist resides in Boston and has been represented by the Beth Urdang Gallery since 1995.
