Lynne Fernie
Forest at Night - large, dark, smokey, gestural, atmospheric acrylic on paper

2020

About the Item

Darkness prevails in this moody acrylic painting by Toronto contemporary artist Lynne Fernie. Thick dashes of black, gray, white and red suggest movement and add texture. The forest does not sleep at night. “Painting is a visual language in the same sense as when a poet sits down to write and they have some sort of feeling. They know there’s something to be said.” Lynne Fernie She is an OCAD honours graduate and award-winning documentary filmmaker. She has been the recipient of arts and film grants from the Canada Council, the Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council and has been a jury member of Canada Council and Ontario Arts Council juries. Her visual art is included in numerous private collections. In addition to her visual arts career, Lynne is also a songwriter. She worked with the Parachute Club and wrote the lyrics for their Canadian classic, “Rise Up”. Framed dimensions are 49 x 34 inches.
