Los Angeles artist Marc Raphael's abstract expressionism paintings are influenced by New York's abstract expressionist movement. After encountering Jackson Pollock’s work for the first time in the 90s, Raphael was enraptured by the scale, energy, color, and abstraction, awakening his creative spirit. Raphael’s painting technique combines the movement of his body, the viscous flow of paint, the force of gravity, and the absorption of paint into the canvas in a mixture of controllable and uncontrollable factors.
This original artwork by Marc Raphael measures 54 inches high by 38 inches wide and was created with acrylic paint on canvas. The sides are painted as a continuation of the front and the artwork comes ready to hang with no framing necessary. The artist signs and titles the painting on the back. This artwork can be installed vertically as well as horizontally. Free delivery is available for those in the local Los Angeles area. "Chaos and Control Theory" Series is about depth and space. It’s about information overload, and what information looks like when you take out a meaning. I create lots of layers, using found materials and printed materials. I do an abstract expressionism painting on a surface first before I apply the printed and found materials. And then I begin to organize the surface, ultimately thinking about balance and flow and how the piece is going to contribute to the space it is going to be hanging in.
