About the Item
A part of Wise’s recent work, this oil painting “Lilt,” takes on a more subtle quality of color by the artist’s use of more earth tones of reds and siennas, while the ever present use of complements on her palette continue to entertain the viewer. From her latest series, which are derived from her experiences while walking in the woods, Wise is playing with more organic forms from her observations of nature. This painting is small at 12 x 18 x 1.5 and emits a visual experience with a more floral effect. Earth colors are used, as well as blues, purples and hints of green which give way into subtleties of oranges, yellows and a tiny bit of pink. Unframed and signed by the artist on the front, the sides are cleanly painted white.
Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.
