- Joy VII - Contemporary Figurative Oil Painting, Beach View, RealismBy Julita MalinowskaLocated in Salzburg, ATArtodyssey "Julita Malinowska's paintings belong to those, which once seen - are never forgotten. The open spaces, sometimes cool and bright, at other times heavily saturated with contrasting light, create a landscape in which, like a counterpoint, we come across a figure – sometimes one, perhaps two or more. The synthetic construction of form, clean contours, and strong divisions are elements which at first sight are the defining characteristics of the artist's style. It is impossible to pass one by and remain indifferent to the subdued harmony flooding these spaces which not totally defined. The drawings, however, are somewhat different. Although they contain the same motifs, at times even the same compositions – the value strategems employed by Julita create a sense of foreboding in a world already balancing on the edge. The painterly and graphic form constructed by the artist is itself thought- provoking . The heightened tones, the light which at times goes off the scale and the almost classic contours lead us to look at Malinowska's work through the prism of classicism and the great art theories of the 17th century. Such references are quite rare in the painting of today and beyond – in art. The search for a language allowing the artist to deal with universal issues and fundamental questions in order to understand the sense of not only art, but also life, has not been too popular a phenomenom in art over the last century. The artist has, however, for the last few years quite consciously defined the sphere of her search. It could first be seen in the diploma cycle of paintings, the summary of her years of study. “The role of the painting defined then and the concious selection of formal sources became the starting point for further artistic exploration, which I have been following carefully ever since.” Julita Malinowska Born in Otwock in 1979. Studied in the Art Department of the University of Maria Curie-Sklodowska in Lublin from 1999-2000, and then from 2000-2005 in the Painting Department of the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. Received a Sokrates/Erasmus scholarship in 2003 for Wolverhampton University in the UK. Graduated (MA degree) from the Painting Department in 2005 with distinction. From 2008 till 2011 was making Doctoral studies (PhD degree) at the Academy of Fine Arts in Cracow. In December 2012 defended PhD degree. In 2005 won Second Prize at The Samsung Art...Category

- Portrait Gentleman Nattier Paint Oil on canvas Old master 18th Century FrenchLocated in Riva del Garda, ITFrench school of the eighteenth century Atelier of Jean-Marc Nattier (Paris 1685 - Paris 1776) Portrait of a gentleman in armor Louis XV period - early 18th century Oil painting on canvas, 81 x 65 cm., In frame 97 x 80 cm. The painting examined here, depicting a gentleman in a knight's armor, presumably a noble officer, can be dated to around the beginning of the 18th century and is evidently a work to be referred to the prolific and prestigious Parisian workshop of Jean-Marc Nattier (Paris 1685 - Paris 1776), one of the most significant portrait painters of his time and a great interpreter of the French school, one of the leading portrait painters of the reign of Louis XV. Thanks to his numerous pupils, he produced a large number of splendid portraits, such as the work we are offering you, which fully exhibits the formal and aesthetic elegance required by the master's atelier for the demanding aristocratic clientele. Note the meticulous rendering of the facial features and the sharpness of the contours highlighted by the light, both in the details of the face and in the reflections of the armor, rendered with great skill. Behind our portrayed, presumably to evoke his military exploits or to honor a recent victory, a glimpse of a battlefield is depicted, still in the midst of combat, with the fumes of the cannons that are dispersed in the sky, with the typical colors gray-blue used by Nattier in his works. The pose of our lord is royal, canonical to all officers of rank, following the favorite formula for the portraits of the members of the French aristocracy, presented in half-length to three-quarters and with a proud gaze towards the observer, as illuminated by the glow of his own prestige: in our case he wears the parade armor and is immortalized with the classic hairstyle surrounded by a bow on the back from which a long lock of hair starts. The work is presented in an excellent state of conservation, with a gilded wooden frame. For more information, please contact us. It is also possible to see the painting in our gallery in Riva del Garda...Category

- Rotterdam Port See Italian Paint Oil on canvas 18th Century Old master FlemishLocated in Riva del Garda, ITPair of views of Rotterdam: The Stock Exchange building / View of the canal with the old port Eighteenth-century Vedutist painter oils on canvas 47 x 66 cm. - with frame 56 x 75 cm. This pleasant pair of paintings depict two glimpses of the city of Rotterdam, investigated here as vivid documentaries of the habits and customs from the public life of the wealthy Dutch port city, as well as one of the founders of the Dutch East India Company, is an excellent example of 18th century Vedutism We see, in particular, in the first work the monumental Palazzo della Borsa (defined as Il Beurs), designed by the architect Adriaen van der Werff in Westnieuwland, initially a place destined for legislation on trade, where merchant-bankers met periodically to exchange securities credit and enter into sales; it is located on the bank of the Nordblaak River and shot with the Gaapers Bridge in the foreground. The second work immortalizes the docking of the ancient port of Rotterdam, with the foreground view of the two city gates (the Wester Old Hoofdpoort on the left and the Ooster Oude Hoofdpoort on the right); in the background on the left the St. Laurenskerk (Church of San Lorenzo), also called the Great Church of Rotterdam, is the only medieval structure, while on the right the English Church. Very well executed, characterized by a marked brightness and a chromatic range with bright colors and highlighted by the contrast between lights and shadows, our canvases are a very interesting testimony of eighteenth-century Rotterdam, portraying two of the views that have historically influenced a lot on economic history of the city. We can attribute the authorship to an author of the full eighteenth century, inspired by the pictorial style of the Italian landscape painters and whose iconography was presumably drawn from the numerous prints with perspective views made through the optical cameras. In particular, these views of Rotterdam draw their iconographic origin from a collection of perspective prints of the most influential European cities, made by the engraver Johann Balthasar Probst (1732-1801), characterized by a remarkable refinement in the line, at the service of a sense of perspective of undoubted value, and above all characterized by a strong Nordic taste. Descendant of a large family of Augsburg engravers, Probst contributed to making his workshop an important European publishing center between the 17th and 18th centuries, among the major German print publishers in the first half of the 18th century. Despite his travels, including in Italy, between Venice, Rome and Naples, not all the cities he portrayed were drawn from life but taken from earlier prints and drawings and filtered through northern European clichés. Many of these engravings have been lost and are now difficult to find on the antiques market.Category
