About the Item

Based on Solfeggio Frequencies, HZ merges the healing potential of painting with the power of sound. Following Kandinsky’s musical theory of the abstract artwork, the spiritual quality of a painting is established in its ability to vibrate in the eyes and therefore emits an inaudible sound frequency. With HZ, the rhythmic organization of the iron lines on the black background transmits specific frequencies that vibrate directly with the soul of the observer. A universal silent sound that promotes a return to spiritual order. Minimal in its aspect, HZ intends to open a gateway in the interiority of the observer. An infinite universe present in each of us which can only be reached in front of the silence of the representation. By impoverish the exterior in order to enrich the interior, the magical power of the unseen is revealed. CARVED FRAME The burned and carved wooden frame acts as an anchor to the ground. In contrast with the infinite distance creating by the artwork, the burned wooden frame connects with the earth elements. An invitation to stay present in the body while travelling in your inner reality. Through the delicate black mantras carved in all-over, the mystical dimension of the pieces reveals itself. Using meditation to access a specific state of consciousness, the artist-shaman uses theses scriptures to provide information that cannot be read by the mind but felt by the soul. A secret language in direct link with higher realms. 888HZ is a frequency that reminds us of how we are all connected in some magical way, sending out our messages of wants, needs and desires to materialize subconsciously into the cosmos. --- Mathilde Lefort is a french visual artist based in Bali, Indonesia Holder of a Master’s Degree at EHESS Paris (France), Mathilde is specialized in war representations and human rights. In parallel with her theoretical studies, she developed an artistic practice around these questions. Using art video, installation and visual publications, she exhibited her work both in Paris and across Europe. Going back to New Caledonia, she lived in total immersion in a tribe located in the north of the island from 2017 to 2019. There she co-direct EDEN TRIBAL, 52 min documentary produced by Box Fish Productions and sold to France Television. The movie tells the story of a Kanak woman fighting to be the chief of her tribe, within the context of the island’s referendum for independence. This period was spent in a deep loneliness. Rejected by the community while deeply in love, Mathilde wandered the darkness of her soul. She captured empty landscapes and wrote the ambulations of her mind to reflect on her loss of identity, the meaning of love, the woman’s place, racism and colonialism. Now in Bali, she follows an unpredictable journey intertwining art, death, and magic. Stabbed to death in 2020, she pursues today her shamanic journey while crafting abstract paintings and sculptures rooted in mystical knowledge. Her art presents itself as a meditation tool for empowerment.

  • Mathilde lefort Mirror II - Iron and Cement on canvas
    Located in Nutfield, Surrey
MIRROR offers doorways that open into a world beyond the visible. Extended to the viewer here is a space of contemplation. A filter for the mind. Through the use of monochrome Mirror invokes the disappearance of painting itself in favor of object-painting. The artwork defeats the fictitious illusion of a third dimension and realize their own material reality, constructing an archetype of Zero form – a Nothing-Object containing infinity. The tension created between the flat surfaces and the appearance of negative depth engulfs the observer in a recessed space, absorbing them in an eternal distance. These painting offers nothing to observe besides your own self. Black excludes the world, purifies the gaze and creates a psychological space where non-perception can only be reflected inwards, which is established by sensations, emotions and an awareness of the spiritual. By providing this mirror to the soul of the observer, the works of MIRROR offers itself as a meditation...

  • Mathilde lefort Prophecy - Ink, gold powder and iron on canvas
    Located in Nutfield, Surrey
There is in Prophecy the idea of an incantation, of magic words allowing to transgress the laws of reality. A golden melody emanating from the tormented depths of the ocean. A liquid knowledge subject to the interpretation of each and that each can seek in the sensations that awaken. Mixing Gold powder and Iron, the scriptures of PROPHECY are as if corroded by time, already on the way to their disappearance. Evoking an ancient knowledge that modernity would have tried to erase, it imposes itself as the vector of an unnameable divine source. They appear and disappear like a breath whose echo resounds with a universal spirituality established in sensations. In a world where the letters and the texts are present everywhere, these scriptures reveal themselves as a silent language established beyond the immediate meaning. Unreadable by the mind, the letter that has become a sign is now receptive to a new meaning given by the observer. Failing to be able to decipher them, it is a question of feeling them for their metaphysical and symbolic power. Just as Kandinsky aspires to produce a painting capable of provoking a «spiritual awakening», PROPHECY proposes the construction of a new universal language based on sensations. --- Mathilde Lefort is a french visual artist based in Bali, Indonesia Holder of a Master’s Degree at EHESS Paris (France), Mathilde is specialized in war representations and human rights. • Mathilde lefort Healing Gate - Ashes and Gold on canvas
    Located in Nutfield, Surrey
Through its elementary rectangular shape, HEALING GATE is conceived as an access route to the higher lights of this universe. A way to remember that the light always wins. Born from the shamanic knowledge of the artist, these door is a pathway to higher dimensions. It acts as a catalyst for darkness, negative emotions and demons, transmuting them into light. Using ashes to create her own black, Mathilde Lefort employed in this painting her shamanic knowledge to heal the sadness of not feeling loved at an universal level. Meditating with the ashes in her hands, she called in this specific feeling who is then transmuting into light by the gold mantrahidden in the middle of the piece. --- Mathilde Lefort is a french visual artist based in Bali, Indonesia Holder of a Master’s Degree at EHESS Paris (France), Mathilde is specialized in war representations and human rights.
