"Arabic Calligraphy 3" Abstract Painting 20" x 26" inch by Mohamed Hassan
Mohamed Hassan is a traditional Arabic calligraphist, he obtained his official license to practice this art from the Sheikh of Egyptian Calligraphers in 2015. Besides his long tenure teacher of the art form at the School of Arabic Calligraphy in Giza from 2003 to 2016, Hassan is a member of the Egyptian General Assembly for the Arabic Writing and of the Society of Artists and Writers, and he participated in the establishment of Dar Madad, the first private center in Egypt for the dissemination of Arabic calligraphy and the accompanying arts in 2014. Hassan received a full-time grant from the Ministry of Culture from 2018 to 2020, and authored the book ‘The Collector in the Ruq’ah Line’ in 2020. Hassan has participated in numerous exhibitions across Egypt since 2002, with the majority of them in Cairo and Alexandria, with notable patronages of some of these exhibitions under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture, the Egyptian General Assembly for Arabic Writing and the League of Arab Nations not to mention various private galleries.
As one of the preeminent calligraphists in Egypt, Hassan has also gained exposure abroad in the form of exhibitions in places like Germany, U.A.E., Kuwait, Turkey and Saudi Arabia. Hassan also enjoyed the honor of being charged with writing an entire copy of the Holy Qu’ran according to the narration of Hafiz Al Assim, and has also composed various books on intonation and remembrances in this regard. He has contributed to a plethora of topics relating to Arabic calligraphy, having been published in many newspapers, magazines and periodicals. In honor of his dedication to this historic cultural craft, among the awards bestowed upon him were Certificates of Appreciation from the Egyptian Opera House, Ministry of Culture, The Chinese Embassy in Cairo and others.
