About the Item
This contemporary expressive impressionist abstract floral painting, Roses and Two Apples, is a radiant work by French artist Natalya Mougenot, known for her emotionally intuitive and nature-inspired practice. This still-life piece belongs to her evocative floral series—an ongoing tribute to the quiet, unassuming beauty found in nature’s simple offerings.
Executed in oil on cotton cardboard, the painting immerses viewers in a tender, atmospheric moment: blooming roses arranged in a vibrant blue vase, accompanied by two red apples resting on a tabletop. At once intimate and luminous, the scene radiates the softness, fragrance, and fleeting elegance of a rose garden in full bloom.
Mougenot’s technique seamlessly blends abstract expressionism with touches of impressionism and art naïf. Her brushwork is expressive and instinctive, with each stroke capturing both the physical texture of petals and the emotional resonance they evoke. Through her intuitive process, she brings the still life genre into a more poetic, emotionally charged dimension.
Far more than a decorative composition, Roses and Two Apples is a visual meditation on presence, simplicity, and authenticity. These values—core to Mougenot’s artistic philosophy—are reflected in her honest, unfiltered approach to painting. For her, art is not about perfection or precision, but about emotional truth and the quiet power of everyday beauty.
Floral motifs, particularly roses, are central to her visual language. They allow her to explore the timeless themes of growth, fragility, and joy—often in conversation with humble objects like fruit or handmade vases. The result is a spontaneous dialogue between feeling and form, where the canvas becomes a living expression of inner and outer worlds.
This one-of-a-kind artwork is sold unframed, giving collectors the freedom to style it according to their space—whether framed traditionally or displayed casually on a tabletop or shelf. Photos of the painting in styled interiors are provided for inspiration.
Please note: due to variations in digital displays, actual colors may differ slightly from what appears on screen.
The piece signed on the front and on the back will be carefully packaged and shipped directly from France, and includes a Certificate of Authenticity verifying its originality and provenance.
Natalya Mougenot’s art is a celebration of emotional immediacy—painting not as performance, but as presence. Roses and Two Apples is a gentle yet powerful example of her ability to turn the ordinary into something quietly transcendent.
Born in Kazakhstan and based in Lyon, Natalya Mougenot brings a rich multicultural perspective and a deeply personal journey to her art. Her distinctive style—both bold and tender—has earned her a place in private collections around the world.

Natalya Mougenot id a french artist living in France for more than 20 years. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult. Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference. She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details. Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach. Natalya manipulates different mediums without a preconceived plan since she is guided by what she wants to express at the moment by embracing the quality of my materials. She does not deny that her artworks reflect her intuitive approach and her love for vibrant colors which represent her who she is. Natalya says she is never able to create the same piece more than once. Sometimes she paints from photos or images. Sometimes she paints from memory. She tells to herself : "Just be yourself when you create ".
