About the Item
LEVEL UP is an abstract painting by Peter Husband in acrylic paint, oil pastel and modeling paste on stretched canvas. It measures 36 x 36". According to the artist, "this one exploded." And the energy of that explosion is evident on the surface. Layers of painting and erasure and mark making give way to scribing and scratching onto the canvas. Closer inspection reveals repeated motifs and patterns – dashed lines and floating rings, zig zags and spiral coils, rectilinear and cylinder volumes – all of it in a combustive yet musical arrangement.
Peter Husband is a self-taught Canadian artist with equal passion in the worlds of technology, the great outdoors and cottage life, and Canadiana. His paintings are in collections in Canada, the United States and Mexico. A solo show of his work will be presented by Gagné Contemporary gallery in Toronto, Canada in 2023.
