About the Item

The body of work, titled "Anthropocene 2016-2018," explores the ways in which humans have impacted and altered the natural systems of the earth during what is known as the Anthropocene epoch. Through my art, I am chronicling the visible scars left on the earth's surface as seen from above, and questioning our impulse to alter the natural course of the planet's story through our actions. This body of work is focused on raising awareness of the ways in which humans have altered the planet, and encouraging viewers to reflect on their own impact on the natural world. By highlighting the visible scars left by human activity, I am drawing attention to the need for greater environmental stewardship and sustainability practices.

  • Printemps (Springtime)
    By Jean Adele Wolff
    Located in Palm Desert, CA
This painting was inspired by the many themes within my art. Duality is seen in the changing textures and colors, creating a strong sense of depth, concave to convex as well as dark to light. Emergence, another theme, occurs with each layer of paint. New forms start to emerge as if by magic, creating a sense of excitement and mystery. In this painting, I hope to evoke the colorful growth and blossoming of spring. Jean Wolff - Born 1947, Cleveland, Ohio Jean received her Bachelor’s degree with honors from the University of Wisconsin. She continued her studies in sculpture and painting at Otis Art Institute, Los Angeles, CA and the University of California, Los Angeles. Jean Wolff’s artwork has been exhibited in numerous galleries and owned in public and private collections throughout the United States. Representative venues include Gensler & Associates; Los Angeles Municipal Art Gallery; Aaron Gallery, Washington, D.C.; Irvine College Gallery, Irvine, CA; Shidoni Gallery, Santa Fe, NM; University of Connecticut Invitation Sculpture Show; Concordia University, Irvine, CA; Bowers Museum, Santa Ana, CA; Social and Public Art Resources, Venice, CA; Fairmont Hotel, San Jose, CA; Marriott by Courtyard, Sherman Oaks...
