"Purple Prickly Pear" Abstract Painting 39" x 39" inch by YASMINE HASSAN
Yasmine Hassan’s still life portrayals of cacti and other stark foliage can scarcely be described as such, given that it is rife with movement and a vivacious energy. Her compositional method employs a mixture of materials, including a pasty white adhesive which she uses to create an embossed textured effect in her paintings. This achieves a realistic undulating profile of beading that rises out of the canvas, a composition she can proudly call her very own.
Hassan’s art is a perfect example of what we look for in young artists, the ability to shine by making something wholly generic and previously explored, into something with their own personal seal of originality.
Sometimes the greatest sophistication lies in simplicity.
