Hunt Slonem Colorful Bunny Oil Painting 'Anthony'
Located in White Plains, NY
Hunt Slonem bunny oil painting 'Anthony' 2024. Oil on wood, 10 x 8 in. / Frame: 12 x 10 in. This painting features Slonem's signature bunny outlined in black over a white background. Includes a handpicked, antique wood frame. Considered one of the great colorists of his time, Slonem’s neo-expressionist paintings feature an exuberant and bold, fauvist palette to emphasize his beloved menagerie of animals. Through the application of lavish, lush colors, Slonem’s painterly style continues to be fresh and innovative bordering on Pop Art aesthetics. Depicting his signature motifs of repeating whimsical animal imagery, the artist’s devotion to nature and its inhabitants are apparent. Born in Kittery, Maine in 1951, Hunt Slonem graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Painting and Art History from Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. Slonem later attended the prestigious Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, where he was exposed to influential artists from the New York area including Alex Katz, Alice Neel, Richard Estes, Jack Levine, Louise Nevelson and Al Held. This exposure played a pivotal role in Slonem’s artistic career, as it aided in his decision to move to New York in 1973. Since 1977, Slonem has had over 250 solo exhibitions at prestigious galleries. Museums, both domestic and international, have collected his work, among them Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, the Whitney, the Miro Foundation, and the New Orleans Museum of Art. His work has been exhibited globally, including in Madras, Quito, Venice, Gustavia, San Juan, Guatemala City, Paris, Amsterdam, Madrid, Stockholm, Oslo, Cologne, Tokyo, and Hong Kong. His work has been shown in thirty-one different museums including the Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee, in 1981; the Museo Diocesano d'arte sacra Sant'Apollonia in Venice, Italy, in 1986; the Albany Museum of Art in Albany, Georgia, in 2007; the Istanbul Museum of Modern Art in Istanbul, Turkey, in 2007; Museo de Arte de El Salvador in San Salvador, El Salvador, in 2010; the National Gallery for Foreign Art in Sofia, Bulgaria, in 2010; the Alexandria Museum of Art in Alexandria, Louisiana in 2011, the Polk Museum of Art in Lakeland...

19th Century landscape oil painting of sheep in a Sussex lane
By William Luker Sr.
Located in Moreton-In-Marsh, Gloucestershire
William Luker Snr British, (1828-1905) Sheep in a Sussex Lane with Pevensey Bay in the distance Oil on canvas, signed & dated 1875 Image size: 17.25 inches x 25.25 inches Size including frame: 23.25 inches x 31.25 inches A tranquil landscape scene of a shepherd and his flock resting in a lane near Pevensey Bay, Sussex by William Luker. The ruins of Pevensey Castle can be seen in the distance with the sea beyond. William Luker Snr was born in 1828 at Faringdon, Berkshire to William and Jane Luker (née Charlwood). His father was a plumber and glazier by trade and the family lived at London Street in Faringdon. Little is known about his early education and it is believed for the most part he was self -taught. However, given the quality of his work and the fact that his family were able to keep a servant, he may well have received some artistic tuition. By the early 1850’s, he had begun earning a living as an artist by advertising in local directories, earning commissions from local landowners. He made his debut at the Royal Society of British Artists in 1851 and was a prolific exhibitor there for over 40 years. He began exhibiting at the Royal Academy in 1852 and also exhibited at the British Institution. He married the artist Ada Augusta Margetts (1839-1930) on 27 October 1864. Their eldest son William Luker Jnr (1867-1951) also became a well-known artist. The couple soon moved to London where they lived at 22 Gloucester Terrace, Campden Hill from where they both exhibited. From 1867, they lived at 15 Sheffield Terrace in Kensington until 1874 when they moved for the final time to 22 Notting Hill Square, later renamed Campden Hill Square in 1893. He died at Campden Hill-square on 28 February, 1905. Luker specialised in landscapes featuring animals such as sheep and cattle, horses and deer. He travelled around visiting areas such as Sussex, Buckinghamshire, Kent, Wales and the Highlands. However, he also made trips to Egypt and Libya producing a series of Oriental scenes in the early 1860’s. His works show a great attention to detail and his use of a lighter palette gives his subjects a luminous quality that instantly attracts the viewer. Examples of his paintings are held by the Atkinson Art Gallery, National Library of Wales, Newstead Abbey...

My Dear Lady
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The eagle, a symbol of strength, freedom, and keen observation, has been revered across cultures and throughout history. With its piercing eyes, commanding presence, and unparalleled aerial prowess, it embodies the beauty and grace of nature. In "My Dear Lady," Bright Toh ingeniously combines the eagle's regal qualities with the elegance and vulnerability of the human form, seamlessly merging the earthly and the ethereal. One cannot help but be immediately drawn to the artwork's vibrant color palette. Bright Toh's deliberate choice of bold hues, such as royal blues, fiery reds, and golden yellows, electrifies the composition and infuses it with energy. The juxtaposition of these vivid colors creates a striking contrast against the serene background, amplifying the visual impact of the artwork and making it a feast for the eyes. The positioning of the eagle-headed human...

Anim
Located in Hudson, NY
This new series of painting is an exciting transition for Kinney as he is best known for assemblage and sculpture. “Anim”, the Latin root word of animal, means life, soul or breath. This exhibition features select large-format monochromatic oil paintings on stretched canvas and wood panels. On view as well are works on paper with Japanese Sumi Ink, which inspired the oil paintings. Kinney has been looking at pre-historic cave paintings as well as animals depicted therein, such as the Chauvet caves in Nice, Southern France. Emerging from the inextricable interplay of light and dark, Kinney’s black and white ink paintings capture the ever-shifting subjectivity shaped by shadow. Cast in Japanese Sumi ink, each unique painting explores the trajectories of human and animal, natural and architectural form- what is revealed or hidden? A variety of hand-torn, heavy weight papers add textural dimension to each mark and brush stroke, as well as through the immediacy of brushstrokes to depict the action within the artwork In his latest collection of works, Kinney explores animal form and meaning as seen in both contemporary and ancient times. In “Savanna (Zebras) ”, a stampede of zebras is depicted through oil paint on wood panel. Animal populations in regions like the horn of Africa today face the loss of their natural habitats due to extreme draught. He explores the deep imprint they leave behind and the interconnectedness of humans and animals in the world. With the balance of nature at stake, Kinney’s paintings underscore the importance of the relationship between the natural environment and civilization. Matt Kinney...

Speak Up
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
In "Speak Up," Bright Toh employs unconventional imagery by merging the head of a cow with a human body. This unexpected combination challenges our preconceived notions and encourages us to look beyond the surface, prompting a deeper exploration of the artwork's underlying message. The cow, often associated with docility and domesticity, takes on a new meaning as it becomes a vessel for the human form, suggesting that even the most unexpected individuals possess the potential for individual expression. The artwork's bright and lively color palette serves as a visual feast for the eyes. Bold hues, such as vibrant blues, fiery red, and vivid greens, infuse the composition with energy and captivate the viewer's attention. The oversized raincoat worn by the figure adds an element of whimsy and intrigue, symbolizing protection and shelter from external influences. It also serves as a metaphorical cloak, representing the need for individuals to find their unique voices and confidently express their ideas and opinions. "Speak Up" serves as a poignant reminder of the significance of individual expression in our society. In a world often characterized by conformity and the suppression of diverse viewpoints, the artwork encourages viewers to embrace their unique perspectives and have the courage to speak up. It celebrates the value of authenticity and reminds us that every individual has a story to tell, a voice to be heard, and ideas that can shape the world around us. Through the fusion of a cow head and a human body, "Speak Up" challenges the traditional notion of what is considered "normal" or acceptable. The artwork serves as a call to question societal norms and encourages viewers to challenge the status quo, promoting a culture of inclusivity and acceptance. It invites us to reconsider the limitations we impose on ourselves and others, reminding us that diversity and individuality should be celebrated rather than suppressed. Bright Toh's artwork, "Speak Up," stands as a vibrant and thought-provoking testament to the power of individual expression. Through the striking fusion of a cow head and a human body, the artwork challenges conventional wisdom and calls for a celebration of authenticity and diversity. By embracing our unique voices and perspectives, we contribute to a richer and more vibrant society. "Speak Up" serves as a reminder to break free from the constraints of conformity and find the courage to express our true selves, amplifying the power of our individuality in the world. Shipping Procedure Ships in a well-protected tube from Nigeria This work is unique, not a print or other type of copy. Accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity (Issued by the Gallery) About Artist Born on the 6th of August 1994 in Buea, Bright Toh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the University of Buea. Animal Paintings for Sale

Animal paintings depict the beauty and power of nature in an elegant way that can complement any room. Interacting with animals has long captured the imagination and has been interpreted in diverse artistic media.

Some of the oldest works of art have included animals, such as a cave painting found in Indonesia dating back more than 45,500 years that shows a wild pig in red ocher pigment. Animals have continued to appear in every era and style of art, from realism to Pop art and everything in between.

Some paintings portray animals in their natural habitat, highlighting the majesty of wild creatures roaming the plains, forests and jungles. These paintings often feature deer, tigers, wild mustangs and other wildlife. Others focus on domestic animals such as dogs — pay a visit to the Museum of the Dog if you don’t believe us — as well as cats and how they interact with the world and their owners.

Picking the right animal painting for a room — as well as knowing how to arrange your new wall art — can take time. But, in the end, it will tastefully reflect your interests and passions. While an expansive landscape painting helps open up a small space, hanging a horse painting in a den shows a love for equine culture and can invite interesting conversation.
