About the Item
Girbent stuns with this work. He creates a photorealistic portrait by focusing on the subject while the rest of the painting appears out of focus. The eye can only focus on one thing at a time, whatever the viewer is looking at, in this case the woman in suspenders. She has the possibility of being nearly any woman as her face is turned away from the viewers gaze.

Girbent was born in Sóller (Balearic Islands) in 1969. In 1986 he enrolled in the Faculty of Fine Arts in Barcelona. He soon dropped out of the university and for a time allowed himself to be seen in the bohemian atmospheres of the Mediterranean city. During this period he devoted himself to watching movies and reading, especially essays and philosophy. In 1989 he traveled to the extinct GDR and managed to enroll in the famous Leizpig Art Academy, where he met Neo Rauch and met M. Weischer and T. Baumgartel. The fall of the Berlin Wall surprises him in Leizpig. In 1990 he exhibited his first paintings in the collective exhibition The Wall, in an alternative space in Berlin. Simultaneously, he explored the world of comics and illustration by publishing (both comics and covers) in the best magazines in the world, such as Totem and Zona 84 in Spain, El Eternauta in Italy or Metal Hurlant in the US. A year later he left Germany and he travels to Mexico City, where he explores the possibilities of video, recording in the places frequented by the Infrarealists, such as the "Quito" café on Bucarelli street (where he seems to still perceive the swarm of the spirits of Roberto Bolaño and Mario Santiago). In Mexico he continues to read compulsively, but his interest has shifted from essays to literature (Borges, Gadda, Joyce...) At the same time, his interest in video art and experimental cinema is growing. He spends the years 1992 and 1993 in the Yucatan peninsula, installed first in Mérida and then in Valladolid. After what he considers his Mexican stage of reflection, he decides to return to his native Mallorca to devote himself to painting. Girbent nace en Sóller (Islas Baleares) en 1969. Cavagnaro again toys with anthropomorphism. This work is a playful mirror, as the artist encourages the viewer to see themselves in the subject.

"Pistoia Street" by Christopher Clark, Original Oil Painting, Italian Cityscape
By Christopher Clark
Located in Denver, CO
Christopher Clark's "Pistoia Street" is an original, hand made oil and acrylic painting that depicts a brightly lit city street.
Christopher has been an artist since early childhood, when he would watch Bob Ross on PBS and mimic the famed oil painter’s art with crayons. He considers himself a self-educated artist, with his studies ranging from personal training with contemporary masters, to classical academic art technique, with much inspiration from 19th Century art and the Impressionist Movement. Christopher lived in Italy for a time, immersing himself in Italian culture and art, which continues to influence his painting. His fan base has grown considerably since his return to the US, gaining the attention of Lucasfilm and Marvel Fine Art, which both signed him as an officially licensed artist in 2016. Other clients include George Lucas, Major League Baseball, Louisville Slugger, and Fender Guitars.
Christopher’s painting skills are not his only talent in the arts. He has won several national swing dance championship competitions, and also studies tango and blues dancing. He has played guitar since the age of 12, and during his time as lead guitarist for a rock band, he opened for Blue Oyster Cult and Eddie Money...
