Seychelles Granite II is a colorful painting made by Evelyne Ballestra, a French contemporary artist, while she was in Seychelles for art residency. The artist uses bright colors in this expressionist painting to show how she feels the energy in this island, highlighting the rocks near the sea and the palm the branches.
Ballestra expresses a unique movement in each painting with a very subtle sensuality and a juxtaposition of colors to reveal light and shadows, creating a synergy between the piece and the viewer. She incorporates colorful narratives and cultural innuendos that are inspired from her travels around the world, especially Egypt, Latin America and the Seychelles. Since 1974, Ballestra has exhibited in over 25 major group and solo exhibitions throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.
