About the Item

Two Ballerinas - Acrylic and Ink on Cardstock Colorful portrait of two ballerinas by Jassen Marek (20th Century). Two ballerinas are shown in white, green, and blue. They are bending forward, with arms outstretched, depicted in a stylized manner. The background is a rich blue, creating a strong contrast with the figures. Signed "Jassen Marek" in the bottom right corner. Presented in a new light grey mat with foamcore backing. Mat size: 12"H x 24"W Board size: 5"H x 20"W Jassen Marek (American, b. 1940) was trained at The Art Institute of Chicago and graduated from the American Academy of Art. He became interested in art when his stepmother urged him to take up a hobby, but began to pursue it seriously once he discovered his passion. Marek spent time in the Army, serving in Korea, but found the office work boring, so he spent his free time painting and drawing.
