Decades later, Leyendecker created a similar illustration for the cover of the June 30, 1917 issue of the Saturday Evening Post, showing George Washington on horseback leading a group of American soldiers into battle. Washington was a favorite subject of Leyendecker's, with the artist illustrating him five times for the Saturday Evening Post alone.
