About the Item
Playing with the interaction between positive and negative space, strong colors on neutral backgrounds, Canadian artist Virginie Schroeder creates pop art portraits and iconic pop culture imagery that defy traditional pictorial representation. She works from the ground up, adding several layers of thick acrylic paint on canvas until she is able to carve out colorful, undulating portraits filled with emotion as well as recognizable dynamic objects filled with movement. Her work is playful and poetic, constructing the famous visages of notable public figures and familiar popular objects. One step closer and her work is abstract. A step back and an iconic likeness appears.
This large, original 48 inches tall and 36 inches wide pop portrait is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted as a continuation of the front and it does not require framing. Dynamic 3D lines unveil shifting hues from every angle, a kaleidoscope of color. It is signed by the artist on the bottom of the painting. Free local Los Angeles area delivery. Virginie Schroeder is an innovative artist based in Quebec, Canada. Her paintings are made to inspire new artistic visions while impressing with their stunning technicality. Virginie Schroeder
Virginie Schroeder is an innovative artist based in Quebec, Canada. Schroeder puts in play lines, circles and other geometric forms to create works with subjects that are not immediately visible. Verbal and psychological interplay with the public is integral to her creative process. Schroeder’s art is the result of reflection and aesthetic intuition provoked by the geometric forms. Her art exists to intrigue, to elicit questioning of its abstract character visible at first glance. One must focus on a single point and draw away slightly to begin to glimpse the impressively detailed work in its totality. Above all, Schroeder wants things not to be visible immediately. To perceive the works, the viewer must feel them, open up all of their senses and live them fully. It is insufficient to live the emotion of the work; Schroeder urges the viewer to enter the work, allowing their spirit to be absorbed into its face. Schroeder’s paintings are made to inspire new artistic visions, while impressing their stunning technicality on the public. Coulombe-Bégin’s work portrays from colorful hearts to specific parts of the human body, especially large close-up portrayals of the mouth and eyes, which are depicted with great contrasts of color and chiaroscuro. These symbols are constructed with specific gestures and drippings in which Coulombe-Bégin expresses an abstract universe full of movement, symbolism, and eroticism.
Born in Miami, Coulombe-Bégin grew up in Quebec City where she earned a Bachelor of Visual Arts in 2006 from Laval University. Starting very young, her parents focused a great deal on both the arts and athletics which helped her develop her own mode of expression.
“I am particularly interested in the fragmented corporal shell, which I emphasize through spontaneous movement and vivid colors.” stated Coulombe-Bégin. “My experience with painting has led me to see things differently, to self-discovery and to great astonishment."
Coulombe-Bégin's works have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including Canada, the United States, Europe, South America, and Australia.

First one, GUCCI in wonderland, is an inspiration that came to John Paul Fauves after doing a 10 piece collection of some Alessandro Michele art campaigns.
There was so much magic realism in the GUCCI brand and concept that transcended from being a clothing label to something more surreal. It is here when the artist decides to give a hold to his new collection for 2018 named "holy exit" and dive into this new world of colors and wonders.
The second part, Alice in Wonderland, represents the artist a world of fantasy and dreams. It seems as if the author Lewis Caroll could write like a dream.
The same concept of surrealism is what FAUVES feels about Gucci design and branding. It as if Gucci can design and create form the world of dreams, and this is what the artist wants to represent in his art GUCCI in wonderland.

John Paul Fauves (born in 1980) is a contemporary Artist from Costa Rica . His artistic journey started at a very young age after he became a student of Joaquin Rodriguez del Paso , one of the most important Costa Rican modern art tutors. John Paul spent 15 years studying and mastering his technique, and only a few years ago he finally started showcasing his work.
In his paintings he engages questions of identity as they relate to art history as well as our everyday interactions with mainstream culture and social media. Greatly inspired by modernist masters as wellas pop-artists, Fauves mixes fragments of different iconic images in vivid and colourful compositions. Of his experimental and high eclectic style, he says, “art is an expression from the soul, and the soul is somethinglimitless. This is why I am always searching for different elements to bring into the work.”
