Soft yellow abstract shapes with curves and lines, 'Still Life' from Mexican-American contemporary visual artist and celebrated architect Javier Arizmendi-Kalb, who creates autobiographical paintings that are comprised of both abstract and representational elements that consider the natural world as it intersects with utilitarian and architectural design. 'Still Life' — 3 x 4 feet (36 x 48 inches), — is from a series of paintings that characterize sacred spaces such as Mexican chapels and Middle Eastern mosques, where strong light enters the interior space though small and controlled apertures, endowing light with symbolic meaning.
The oil painting, that includes broad strokes, drips and lines, is created with a soft multicolor palette, including mainly yellow, pink and ivory with orange and black. The work is autobiographical in nature and is heavily layered with oil paint on hand-stretched cotton canvas. Artist initials are on the front of the canvas, and it is signed, titled and dated Verso. Condition as new. Excellent. Unframed. Ready to hang.
