Guy Bardone was born in Saint Claude, in eastern France. He is one of the important members of the French New Figurative Art. He studied under the master Maurice Brianchon, Jules Cavailles and François Desnoyer in the Ecole National Supérieure des Arts Decoratifs in Paris, where he befriended René Genis. In 1953, Bardone was invited to participate in a group exhibitions at the Musée Galleria in Paris titled “Celebrities and Revelations of Contemporary Painting.” In 1954, he was exhibited in the Ecole de Paris Exhibition in Galerie Charpentier. Some of the award he had won includes the price of Félix Fénéon in 1952 and the price of the Greenshields Foundation in 1957. Rare Judaica Art. Jewish genre scene. In the tradition of Moritz Oppenheim, Isidor Kauffman and Maurycy Gottlieb and later of Tully Filmus, Zalman Kleinman and Itshak Holtz the artist captures this Jewish scene with a particular sensitivity. Part of the Ecole De Paris The term "School of Paris" was used in 1925 by André Warnod (fr) to refer to the many foreign-born artists who had migrated to Paris.
School of Paris artists were progressively marginalized. Beginning in 1935 art publications no longer wrote about Marc Chagall, just magazines for Jewish audiences, and by June 1940 when the Vichy government took power, School of Paris artists could no longer exhibit in Paris at all.
The artists working in Paris between World War I and World War II experimented with various styles including Cubism, Orphism, Surrealism and Dada. Foreign and French artists working in Paris included Jean Arp, Joan Miró, Constantin Brâncuși, Raoul Dufy, Tsuguharu Foujita, artists from Belarus like Michel Kikoine, Pinchus Kremegne, and Jacques Lipchitz, the Polish artist Marek Szwarc and others such as Russian-born prince Alexis Arapoff. A significant subset, the Jewish artists, came to be known as the Jewish School of Paris or the School of Montparnasse. The "core members were almost all Jews, and the resentment expressed toward them by French critics in the 1930s was unquestionably fueled by anti-Semitism." One account points to the 1924 Salon des Indépendants, which decided to separate the works of French-born artists from those by immigrants; in response critic Roger Allard (fr) referred to them as the School of Paris. Returning to the classroom, Harmon joined the art department at Central High School where he taught for 14 years and became an innovator in art curriculum, developing a program offering advanced placement art classes to gifted students. In his final years Harmon became a supervisor, mentoring teachers and overseeing programs in the Philadelphia school systems District #1. During his short life Harmon taught collage preparatory art classes at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, summer classes at the University of the Arts, and a Saturday program for gifted children at Drexel University. Among Harmon's portraits were commissioned by Philadelphia Jazz organist Jimmy Smith and Mayor Richardson Dilworth. "Conceptualism does not exist for me, I want more so that a person, by contacting the painting, reveals what I want to say. It is looking for my contemporaries, the souls of the soul," she says. The artist is painting very specific things, but the reflection of water in her is not only general, it connects the earth and the sky. "It's like serving beauty," says Merca about her relationship with painting.
Education: Jahn Rozenthal Riga Art Academy(1963-1970) and the Department of Painting of the Latvian Academy of Arts (1970-1977), graduated in 1977. at Eduard Kalniņš, in 1983 graduated from the postgraduate studio of the Art Academy of the USSR Riga with Professor Eduard Kalniņa. Graduated from the Art Academy at the master's studio in Riga.
Participated in exhibitions since 1976. Member of the Artists' Union of Latvia since 1980 and member of the association "B - 13" (1993 - 1998) from 1993.
Has had personal exhibition in Jelgava (1991) and Riga (1993). Regularly participated in group exhibitions in Riga, Vilnius, Moscow, Finland, Sweden, Germany, Poland, Italy, France, Japan and elsewhere.

Calogero was born August 20, 1922 in Catania, Sicily. Self-taught Surreal Artist First exhibitions in 1945 in Sicily and Rome were very successful. He arrived in Paris in 1947 and studied at the Ecole des Beaux Arts.
He is best known for his Surrealism and genre works. His paintings are dreamlike and visionary. They travel to an infinite space created by the artist through his memories, the sky and the sea so dear to him. In his paintings there are a few common themes: the masks with their dual dimensions that hide or shows only what you want, the profiles of the women, and the horsemen, drawn as the Sicilian tradition requires.
He exhibited at the Gallery Hervé in 1951 and the following year he went to New York to present his show, then in 1953 he was invited to Los Angeles, where he returned two years later, and from where he regularly exhibited his works, and San Francisco.
In 1954, Maximilien Gauthier devoted a book to him published by "The Gemini." The first exhibition in Japan was in 1965. He was awarded the Grand Silver Medal by the City of Paris in 1957. Calogero had countless exhibitions in Paris, in the fifties, plus the American exhibitions in New York (Associated American Artists, 1952), Los Angeles (James Vigevano Galleries, 1953) and then later in Japan and in major galleries in Italy.
He lived and worked for many years in Paris and Italy. He died in 2001.

Lovely interior scene by notable artist Joseph Tomanek (Cech-American, 1889-1974). A woman sits near a window, holding a small child dressed in bright red in her lap. Another child, somewhat older, stands next to her, looking at the young child. Soft lights spills though the window, illuminating the scene in a warm glow. A plant with red flowers sits on the windowsill, and foliage can be seen outside.
Signed "Tomanek" in the lower right corner (note that the shape above the signature is a toy train)

Tomanek, the son of a carpenter, was born in Moravia. His family discouraged his art talent and wanted him to be a shoemaker. He studied in his homeland of Czechoslovakia at the School of Design in Prague. He emigrated to America around the turn of the century and arrived in Chicago in 1910 and worked as an interior decorator. He attended the Art Institute of Chicago and studied with Antonin Sterba. He also studied with Albert Krehbiel and K.A. Buehr.
He was a member of the Bohemian Artist Club, Association of Chicago Painters, and Sculptors, and the Chicago Gallery Association. His work is included in the collection of the Vanderpoel Art Association (Chicago). He exhibited from the 1910s-40s, including exhibitions at the Art Institute of Chicago and the Georgia Museum of Art.
Of the difficulty of posing nudes in Chicago, he said, "In Paris you can rent little gardens studios and pose your models there in privacy. Here, if I work out of doors, I have to pose the girls in bathing suits...

About the artist:
Karl A. McIntosh is a self taught artist who works is pastel, watercolor, acrylic, stone, wood and metal and is a known for his imaginative transformation of found objects into works of art. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, McIntosh moved to the United States at an early age and later took up art. Among his mentors are artist Otto Neals with whom he worked at the Bob Blackburn Printmaking Working Workshop and artist Marian Griffin. McIntosh is also a poet, drummer and dancer who draws his creative inspiration and expression from his study of African art and culture.
McIntosh’s bold, bright colors dance off the page and tantalize the senses. His work is profound in its statement and deliciously whimsical. His work is an honest portrayal of everyday life and the people who live it but on occasion, takes on public figures and world events most often employing satire as thick as the layers of paint or paper he uses to depict them.
