Angel Ramiro Sanchez was born in 1974 in Maracaibo, Venezuela. At age six was accepted with full scholarship into the Instituto the Niños Cantores del Zulia, school for musically gifted children. At age fourteen he began five years of apprenticeship with the realist painter, Abdon J. Romero, an eminent specialist in murals for churches and public buildings. In 1993, a study grant from Mgr. Kelly Carmody has exhibited at venues including the Portrait Society of America and the Art Students League. Most recently, she was selected for the 2015 BP Portrait Award Show at the National Portrait Gallery in London and the 2016 Outwin Boochever Award at the National Portrait Gallery in Washington D.C. In addition, the historic Guild of Boston Artists elected her to become a member in 2015, she won the Edmund C. Tarbell Award in her first juried members show. The winning portrait is on the cover of July/August edition of Fine Art Connoisseur. In June of 2015 she received the Blanche E. Colman Award. She was invited to exhibit in the 2016 American Masters show at the Salmagundi Club.
She currently has work at the Sloane Merrill Gallery in Boston, the Guild of Boston Artists, and the Ann Long Gallery in Charleston, SC. Publications that have featured her work include American Art Collector, Fine Art Connoisseur, International Artist Magazine, Fine Art Today, Southwest Art, Studio Visit Magazine, Boston Magazine, and The Boston Globe. Carmody has won grants from the Ludwig Foundation, Turkey Land Cove Foundation, and Massachusetts Cultural Council, as well as receiving an Edward G. McDowell Travel Grant and the Walter Feldman...

Greta Van Campen is known for her geometric hard-edged graphic approach to representation. She has traveled across the United States sourcing inspiration from the landscapes, small towns, and cities. Now, with a young family, she gets most of her inspiration close to home. Scenic ocean views and paintings of flowers from her gardens make up the bulk of her new work. She paints in her home studio, beginning each piece with a photograph she has taken. She uses the photo as a reference while drawing from memories of her experiences, sometimes also working from sketches done on location. The image is translated into a painting by first setting large compositional elements and then finding shapes and masking off areas with tape, mixing the desired color of paint, and continuing to tape and paint until the desired amount of detail is reached. This distilled and stylized approach imbues her traditional subject matter with a freshness and modernity. As Van Campen explains, she “figure(s) out how to recreate a version of the natural, atmospheric place by turning it into a more geometric, color and balance-driven scene that is hopefully appealing, interesting, and authentic.” Van Campen was born in and resides in Maine. Eric Harrison-born 1971 in San Antonio, Texas. In 1995 he married Kim Marie, and together they have two sons, Noah and Ethan. The Harrison’s reside in the hill country west of Blanco, Texas.
Currently painting in a language resonant with other Texas artists such as Robert and Julian Onderdonk, Robert Wood, Porfirio Salinas, Dawson Dawson-Watson, and Robert Harrison; with an affinity toward the work of California painter William Wendt. Paul Cezanne and many of the post impressionists.

Greenfield-Sanders’ landscape paintings invite the viewer into nostalgia, to forge a connection to their own experience. Using found vintage photography as a starting point, she creates several iterations of each image, which she alters with pencil and watercolor, and finally paints over with oil. They emerge simultaneously familiar yet enigmatic. She elaborates, stating, “All of my paintings are based on amateur slides from seventy years ago. I am interested in the ‘comfortably familiar’ nature of the images and how the elapsed time allows them to ‘prickle with new meaning’ to connect that which was worth capturing with that which is worth painting, at present.” The paintings require a great deal of forethought and groundwork, but still appear unlabored and fresh. Her style of painting, which prizes color, representation and evocation, is activated by both individual experience and collective memory.

William Sharp was born on June 13, 1900, in Lemberg, Austria, where he attended college and the Academy for Arts and Industry. He later studied in Kraków, Poland, and in Berlin and Munich, Germany. Sharp began his career as a designer of stained-glass windows and as a painter of murals. He served in the German army during World War I. After the war he became a newspaper artist in Berlin and a well-known etcher.
Sharp drew political cartoons that were bitterly critical of the growing Nazi movement. As the influence of National Socialism intensified, he began to contribute drawings, under a pseudonym, to publications that were hostile to Hitler. After Hitler assumed power, Sharp was confronted with these drawings and told that he would be sent to a concentration camp. However, in 1934, he escaped to the United States.
His first newspaper assignment in America was making courtroom sketches for The New York Mirror...

She studied privately with Daniel Garber, Cecilia Beaux, Violet Oakley, Emil Carlsen, Robert Vonnoh, Hugh Breckenridge, and others. She was active in London, England until 1933. She then settled in Los Angeles where she remained until her death on Jan. 20, 1981. Primarily a muralist, she also painted floral still lifes and landscapes of the Sierra and southern California. Style : In Hindu philosophy, the 'Antahkaran' refers to the totality of two levels of mind , namely the Buddhi, the intellect or higher mind, and the Manas, the middle levels of mind which exist as or include the mental body. It refers to the entire psychological process, including mind and emotions. Ghoshal’s paintings weaves an Antahkaran, creating structural spaces, sometimes meditative & melancholic in nature. His contemplative mind, enters into the inner realm of reality, dissects it and extracts a kind of mystic silence.
The extant contemplative in wardress in him got charged with meditative spirituality through his association with this heritage city. Benaras, started flowing in his canvasses both through landscapes and human faces. Since 1995-96 his Benaras paintings started transforming. Initially his landscapes contained reflection of naturalness transformed through melancholic chiaroscuro. Gradually the naturalness started disintegrating into expressionistic structures. At a certain stage during 2004-05 some of these structures yielded into abstractions shedding all the links with naturalness. Then again the sign-symbols integrated into geometrical structures reflecting traces of original locations.
About the Artist and his works :
Born : Born in 1965. Tapas spent his childhood and early youth in the quiet idyllic environment of rural Bengal. The soothing lyrical landscape and the intrinsic mythical past within the rural life made a great impact in his inner being, which aroused in him love for beauty, spiritual in nature, making him contemplative and inward looking.

1989 : Graduation in Painting from Govt.College of Art and Craft, Kolkata (First Class First)
1992 : Post Graduate in Painting from Benaras Hindu University, Varanasi (First Class).

It could be argued that cave walls were the canvases for the world’s first landscape paintings, which depict and elevate natural scenery through art, but there is a richer history to consider.
The Netherlands was home to landscapes as a major theme in painting as early as the 1500s, and ink-on-silk paintings in China featured mountains and large bodies of water as far back as the third century. Greeks created vast wall paintings that depicted landscapes and grandiose garden scenes, while in the late 15th century and early 16th century, landscapes were increasingly the subject of watercolor works by the likes of Leonardo da Vinci and Fra Bartolomeo.
The popularity of religious paintings eventually declined altogether, and by the early 19th century, painters of classical landscapes took to painting out-of-doors (plein-air painting). Paintings of natural scenery were increasingly realistic but romanticized too. Into the 20th century, landscapes remained a major theme for many artists, and while the term “landscape painting” may call to mind images of lush, grassy fields and open seascapes, the genre is characterized by more variety, colors and diverse styles than you may think. Painters working in the photorealist style of landscape painting, for example, seek to create works so lifelike that you may confuse their paint for camera pixels. But if you’re shopping for art to outfit an important room, the work needs to be something with a bit of gravitas (and the right frame is important, too).
Adding a landscape painting to your home can introduce peace and serenity within the confines of your own space. (Some may think of it as an aspirational window of sorts rather than a canvas.) Abstract landscape paintings by the likes of Korean painter Seungyoon Choi or Georgia-based artist Katherine Sandoz, on the other hand, bring pops of color and movement into a room. These landscapes refuse to serve as a background. Elsewhere, Adam Straus’s technology-inspired paintings highlight how our extreme involvement with our devices has removed us from the glory of the world around us. Influenced by modern life and steeped in social commentary, Straus’s landscape paintings make us see our surroundings anew.
