About the Item

River Landscape Painting of the Scottish Highlands by 19th Century British Artist, Alfred De Breanski Snr, (1852 - 1928). Signed on the front (lower right). Framed in a brand new hand-finished moulding of the highest quality. Art measures 22 x 16 inches Frame measures 28 x 22 inches (approx.) This unique original oil painting is a beautiful depiction of a tranquil tree-lined river scene in the Scottish Highlands, with vivid reflections in the water and commanding mountains in the background. This painting depicts a tranquil river landscape set against a backdrop of distant mountains under a softly lit sky. The river, which reflects the surrounding scenery, winds gently through the scene, bordered by lush trees and foliage in varying shades of green and brown, indicative of late summer or early autumn. The sky is a gradient of soft pastel colors, transitioning from a pale blue to a warm orange, suggesting either dawn or dusk. The mountains in the distance are softly rendered, adding depth and a sense of serenity to the scene. The painting is framed in an ornate, golden frame with a white inner border. Alfred de Breanski Senior (1852 - 1928) was a distinguished landscape painter who became famous for his resplendent views of the Welsh and Scottish Highlands. Often bathed in a flood of golden light, these landscapes usually feature water and cattle or sheep on grassy banks, sometimes a solitary figure is seen the distance.
