Artist Comments
The trawler Lady Ann moored at Cortez Marina in Bradenton, Florida. Fernando explains she is back home from a trip to the Gulf of Mexico where she nets for bait fish for other vessels to use in their daily work. Seabirds watch over the scene from the roof of the dock, calm rippling water in the foreground. Part of Fernando's signature series of nautical scenes capturing the watercraft, wildlife and landscape of his native Florida. He regularly travels, making sketches, taking notes and shooting photographs to later reference in his studio. The result is detailed, intimate paintings that radiate the stunning light and tropical breezes of the Sunshine State.
About the Artist
Artist Fernando Soler illuminates the Florida coast with vibrant seascapes. Being immersed in fine arts, as well as having been a charter captain, Soler has always been drawn to the ocean. Any location that inspires him turns into a sketch, is taken to his studio, and is brought to life with acrylic and oil on canvas. "My paintings reflect nautical themes, and nature in general, with the impressionist color palette in mind." Fernando enjoys listening to jazz from the sixties and seventies to inspire his creative process. When he is not painting, you can find him golfing, visiting fine restaurants and pubs in the city of New Orleans, or playing jazz on his trumpet. Fernando's creations have been showcased in both New York and Florida. He is an alumnus of Ringling College of Art and Design.

Power lines extend into the fog, creating a quiet landscape that merges the chaos of human creation and the calmness of nature. Isolated from the noise of the modern world and moments of reflection, utility poles support the electrical veins of society within a calm, natural setting. Opposite realities can coexist, creating beauty in the spaces where they meet. The artwork has a matte, low-sheen finish, which allows clear viewing in various lighting conditions.
