A French Impressionist Fauvist Colour-Field watercolour and pastel on paper landscape by G Ricard. The painting is signed and dated bottom right. Presented in a fine period wood frame under glass.
A charming, characteristic and colourful landscape view of trees in all their majestic beauty surrounding an orchard in a paddock and a mountain in the distance. The artist has used an interesting and vibrant colour palette of mauve, greens, blues, orange, red and browns for the composition which makes the painting sing. The technique and use of colour harks back to the landscapes of Van Gogh.
This is probably a view of the countryside around Nice in the south of France, where Ricard did most of her painting, and the landscape and light of which has always been such an inspiration to artists
