"The Victorian Sentinel" - Mid-Century Architectural Landscape in Oil on Canvas
Helen Landgraf (American, 1916-1999) was a teacher in the San Juan Unified School District. She was general chairman of the Northern California Arts Association’s Art Fair, as well as founding member and secretary of the Sacramento Artist’s Group (later renamed “Sacramento Artists League”). Along with her husband John (an accomplished artist in his own right), she created the Christine and Helen Landgraf Memorial Research Award in honor of their daughter, Christine, who passed away from Hodgkin’s disease. The award continues as a part of the Amador Cancer Research Foundation, a nonprofit at the UC Davis Comprehensive Cancer Center.
