About the Item

This impressionist oil painting landscape with two people under an orchard tree was done by American artist John Fulton Folinsbee (1892-1972). Folinsbee was born in Buffalo, New York, spending much of his life in the New Hope, Pennsylvania area, becoming well known for his impressionist landscape paintings and later in life, industrial street genre paintings. Provenance: The painting has been included in the catalogue on Folinsbee. It was painted circa 1916 and exhibited at Smith College in 1916 and sold at that exhibition.This is from the catalogue: In the Orchard c.1916 Oil on board 8 x 10 in.
