Along the Maine coast, the surf can be turbulent, the tide ferocious, the skies exquisite, the rocks unyielding. This piece is an original oil painting on panel by American artist Ginny GC Williams. It was painted en plein air during a painting expedition to Vermont. With vivid light and color, the artist has given us a glimpse through the trees to a long view across a field to the far mountains. Using brushstrokes and drawing into the paint, the piece is reminiscent of Japanese woodblock prints that inspire the artist. "A Family of Four On Cross Highway" is a contemporary impressionist view of a tree scene on the East End of Long Island, New York.
