About the Item
"Sea and Sky in Hazy Sun," Oil on Canvas, 60 x 46 Inches, is a large beach painting of the shoreline at sunset dominated by a dramatic sky of blues, grays, lavender and pink, with brilliant white light peeking through the clouds. The lower third of the painting is devoted to aqua/blue/white water rolling in at high tide. A companion painting, "Sea and Sky in Moonlight," is an equally forceful nocturne. The two paintings are sold individually or as a diptych.
This painting is not framed. Framing is not necessary as the sides are painted.

MacNeille has an amazing ability to paint water and sky and the romantic effects of light at all times of day. Her subjects extend far beyond her native Massachusetts to include an equally impressive series of paintings of Niagara Falls both small scale (12 x 12 inches) and large (48 x 48 inches), snow scenes and landscapes.

"Sunset on Golden Marsh," Oil on Canvas, 48 x 48 Inches is a majestic landscape painted with all the elegance and attention to detail of the best of the 19th century Hudson River artists. The warm glow of the top half of the canvas, pink and yellow light diffused through passing clouds, perfectly capturing the setting sun on a summer day is a dramatic foil to the lower half of the painting where meticulous rendering of the marsh's water and greenery is dreamy in the distance.
