Marcia Wise
"Light Promenade", oil painting, landscape, reds, yellows, greens, blue, oranges

2017

About the Item

Marcia Wise’s “Light Promenade” is a mid-sized oil painting, 24 x 18 inches, in which reds, greens with touches of blue and lavender draw the viewer's eyes upward into soft oranges and yellows as if directing ones vision toward the light. Marcia Wise continues to work with complementary color applications as is evident in her oil painting, “Light Promenade.” Wise uses reds and greens with touches of blues and lavenders, while she draws the viewer’s eye, by the use of oranges and ascending soft qualities of yellows, into the pathway and toward the light that beckons the viewer to follow. In this series, she utilizes both palette knife and brush application of paint to create a multi-layered, textured effect. Here we also see Wise’s continued use of reflection and introspection as well as of ascension, which are her offerings of hope and joy. This painting is unframed, sides painted a clean white, and is signed on the front by the artist. Marcia Wise is a Massachusetts-based contemporary oil painter and educator whose paintings are inspired by nature's landscape forms and patterns, light effects and reflections, and the play of textures. Her work has been exhibited and collected nationally and internationally. Wise is represented by Fountain Street Gallery in Boston, MA.

  • "Longitude", landscape, boat, river, blues, greens, mountains, oil painting
    By Alexandra Rozenman
    Located in Natick, MA
“Longitude” is 40 x 60 x 2 inch oil painting on canvas by Alexandra Rozenman. You feel the space shifting through many horizon lines. A peaceful river landscape with a single boat on a green shore keeps the painting up like a pedestal while above it air moves in greens and blues leaving lines and shapes on the lands and mountains. White trees that make us think about birches reflect in deep waters. Light goes up and up and up and on the very top of the painting, we see two women sitting comfortably next to each other at the front of an open door. This vast landscape is just a room for them. Dark night with a full moon is outside. The title of this painting is "Longitude" it illustrates how close we can be even when we are far away once we understand each another. This painting is oil on canvas, initialed on the front and signed, titled and dated on the reverse. On the reverse, you also see one old...
