Harry Orlyk was born in Troy, New York in 1947. In 1971 after graduating college, he went on to graduate school at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln . Over the next nine years, he was influenced by several Nebraskan artists. "Still-life painter Robin Smith taught me how to use paint without turpentine - to paint from the tube." George Matthew Bruestle is an American Realist/Impressionist painter known for his intimate landscapes. Born and raised in New York City, Bruestle studied at the Art Students' League of New York in 1886 at the young age of fifteen and later in Paris. That same year, Bruestle visited Essex, CT and eventually purchased a second home in Hadlyme, Old Lyme as the Art Colony formed. Bruestle's main studio was in New York City.
Inspired by Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot [1796-1875] and other French landscape painters, Bruestle's style was a mix of Early Realism and Early Impressionist techniques. Born Wallula, Oct. 17, 1894, Walter Bailey was a painter, illustrator, muralist, etcher, block printer, lithographer and teacher. He studied at the Kansas City Art Institute in 1920 with Charles A. Wilmovsky, Randall Davey, & Anthony Angarola. He worked on the art staff of the Kansas City Star.

Orlyk prefers to leave his canvases unframed to reveal the exposed linen which are nailed to sturdy homasote boards for easy installation. This painting is a perfect example of Orlyk's impressionistic aesthetic. Here, the artist captures a quaint country landscape in a range of warm, golden tones. Orlyk's signature use of soft yellows creates a gently luminous atmosphere. The scene is made with gestural strokes of paint that culminate onto a textured, impasto surface.
