About the Item
This acrylic painting on panel features a grove of trees, crowned by a dramatic top in tones of grey and blue. The almond-colored trees grow out of small mounds in green, yellow, and dark navy blue. The top of the trees is rendered as a smoky stain, with brushstrokes in parts that are deliberately thickened. This is a compelling piece that benefits from the structure of its wood fabrication. The piece is sold unframed, but it looks quite appropriately this way. The artist has signed the piece in the back.
Miguel Martinez-Riddle is a painter and installation artist, born in Brooklyn of Puerto Rican parentage. Martinez-Riddle is a sophisticated artist who is in the know about current issues in art, having taught painting and design at the college level and collaborated with museum curators. He has an MFA in painting from Hunter College.
