About the Item
Arrows in traffic are an indication of a variety of instructions, from hazard to direction control. This painted arrow on wood presents an icon we are familiar with, but does so in an almost cheerful way with the use colors such as yellow and red, and with its graphic impact. Operating in a similar way to Warhol's Campbell Soup, these arrows, however, are not verisimilitudes of those most often seen on the road. The artist has signed the piece in the back.
Miguel Martinez-Riddle is a painter and installation artist, born in Brooklyn of Puerto Rican parentage. Martinez-Riddle is a sophisticated artist who is in the know about current issues in art. He has an MFA in painting from Hunter College.
