Spring Cove Texas Landscape American Impressionism 24" x 36" Lake Conroe

2024

About the Item

Framed 26.5" x 37.5 " Spring Cove is an impressionist landscape painting that was painted on Lake Cone located in Montgomery, Texas. Early Spring Cove is a contemporary oil landscape painting on a 24" x 36 " canvas painted in 2024 by Texan artist Steve Parker conveying his understanding of Texas landscapes and the use of native Texan trees. Spring Cove is a painting from a recent road trip to the Lake Conroe area. There is a feeling of recognition, of the familiar and yet of the elusive Texas landscape. Spring Cove has a float frame which is shown . By looking inward, Parker has created a view which Texas nature is constantly changing. Steve Parker's paintings have enough definition to become recognizable while retaining a loose painterly quality. Steve Parker always brings the viewer back to Texas. Lake Conroe is a reservoir that was created in 1973 as an alternative water supply for the city of Houston. The manmade lake occupies 21,000 acres, and has an average depth of 20.5 feet and a maximum depth of 75 feet. With so much water to explore, aquatic activities abound—boating, jet skiing, water skiing, wakeboarding, canoeing and kayaking are all popular. The lake is fishable and swimmable, though it does have alligators in certain areas. Bordered by Sam Houston National Forest and W. Goodrich Jones State Forest, there is also plenty of space for woodsy recreation around the 157-mile shoreline, from birding, camping and fishing to a variety of hiking, biking and running trails throughout the woods. There are even guided nature walks to join. Steve Parker has been an Instructor at the Art League of Houston for over 30 years . Steve Parker, born into a family which respected art and music, reflects within his personality both artistic influence of his ancestors and Texas childhood. Deeply passionate about his landscapes, Parker conveys his understanding of nature its depth, its moods and its ever-changing aspects to a broad and appreciative audience. After graduating from Texas Art Academy, Parker worked as a staff artist for the Houston Post. At that time he began studying under Lajos Markos, where he developed a strong appreciation for contemporary realism.
