Harry E. (Emsley) Wood, Sr., was born 26 September 1879 near Lexington, Illinois, the third child of Emsley Harrison Wood, Jr., and Florence Robinson Wood. The family moved to Indianapolis shortly after Harry was born. Florence Robinson Wood died around 1882 and Emsley Wood married Sallie Bunger Lewis eleven months later. Emsley Harrison Wood worked in various jobs, including real estate sales and as a grocery clerk.
Harry E. Wood attended public schools in Indianapolis until about 1889 when he contracted Scrofulous, a strain of tuberculosis. The condition, coupled with his family's poverty, disrupted his formal education. He attended Manual Training High School in 1899 and worked as a cartoonist for the Indianapolis Star in 1900. Wood illustrated Our Public Servants, a column of political satire written by Kin Hubbard.

Originally from north-central Washington State, Scott Allen has practiced both art and architecture for over two decades. Scott received his Bachelor of Arts in Environmental Design from the University of Washington in 1980, and his Masters of Architecture from the Graduate School of Fine Arts at the University of Pennsylvania in 1982. Scott began exhibiting his art in 1997 and has created a body of paintings in both pastel and oil. Maryann Lucas lives and works in Sag Harbor. She is primarily self-taught but has also received instruction and support from wonderful and generous members of the East End artistic community. Working exclusively in oils, Lucas sets out almost daily to create plein aire landscapes and seascapes. In her studio, she works directly from life and captures the beauty of natural light as it transforms ordinary objects into visual delights.
Lucas wants her work to celebrate all that is well with this world and brilliant in this life, despite its pockets of darkness.
For me, she says, I know I am in the Presence of something beautiful, when it steals my breath, silences my mind, pushes out everything else and draws me in. I trust That. I use That to guide my hands as I arrange a still life or scan a landscape to determine where to set down my easel. Ultimately, That is what drives me to paint.

Joseph Barrett was born in Midland, North Carolina, in 1936 and studied at the Massachusetts College of Art in Boston and at the Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia. Barrett, now of Lahaska, Pennsylvania, has been painting his entire adult life. His favorite subjects include the landscape surrounding New Hope and many local landmarks often encompassing figures into his compositions. Barrett utilizes a heavy impasto and his palette bears similarities to that of Fern Coppedge and George Sotter. Barrett’s paintings are always found in unique and somewhat charming handmade frames designed by the artist and finished in metal leaf.

This large landscape oil painting by John Traynor captures a scene in New England. Fluffy, almost abstracted clouds sit above the hills, with a patch of blue skies shining through toward the top of the image. The painting is 48" x 72", and 58" x 82" framed. John C. Traynor's painting style is reminiscent of some 19th century painters and the Dutch Masters. He uses his knowledge of light and color to create a certain mood in each of his works. Brett Eric Osborn was born in Lima, Ohio in 1963. Both his father and his cousin are artists and influenced the young Osborn during his formative years. Brett recalls being a child during a "Friday-night-smoked-filled-room-critique" where his father and friends would meet to look at slides of contemporary artists and their work. His father worked as a painter and a designer. His father's familiar designs included the "Grey Hound Bus" logo and the "Circle K" logos.
Brett studied painting, film and theater at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. He supported himself working in professional theater as a set builder, in television as an art director and after moving to Southern California in 1987, worked in Hollywood as a special effects miniature artist.
