About the Item

One calm evening in Brooklyn. One timeless painting. This scene captures the downtown Brooklyn skyline. A blue sky swirls around the last hurrah of daylight. It soothes the menacing drama of the storm cloud. Brooklyn Blue Sky brings out oil paint's magnificent properties. The surface of the picture is of particular interest. No number of photos can capture the delicate intricate, deep luscious surface of this painting. Tom uses a classical painting technique of multiple layers of oil paint to achieve subtle rich tones that bring a rare vibration to the painting. Indeed, oil glazes, are something great for one to set eyes upon. Experience the radiance of an extravagant rich oil painting by a seasoned mature artist. Rare, deep Lapis Lazzulli blue and azurite pigments, dominate the picture. The National Gallery of Art notes the difference of natural lapis and modern ultramarine pigment. Lapis Lazzulli has more violet undertones and reflects more orange and red than it's modern equivalent, ultramarine. The non-homogenous size of the pigment particles create nuances of light not possible with modern colors. Behold the artist's view beyond the cloud in front of you, and let yourself be taken by the beauty and feeling of this work of art.
