About the Item

Early 20th century Folk Art Impressionist oil on board view of a farmhouse. Initial signed but artist unknown and dated 1924 to the bottom right. Presented in a really beautiful period carved wooden frame. A charming view of an old timber framed farmhouse. It's twilight and the viewer approaches the distant house along a small winding path cutting across green fields with wild flowers. The sky is grey and moody, the farmhouse fire is lit. Muted, smokey tones in green, brown and grey convey the atmosphere of early evening. The eye is taken along the path, past the house and lifted up into the hills and sky beyond. A charming scene.
