La Crue a Monaco, Le Roche, Villa and Garden at Monte Carlo

1970s

About the Item

An oil on board view of a villa and garden in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The painting is signed bottom left but as yet undeciphered, presented in wood frame with inscription and trade label to the back panel. A bright and colourful scene of a wonderful yellow villa and its contrasting green shutters, in the foreground an old tower sitting along the wall of a garden. There is great texture to the surface of the painting and a naive but very successful charm to the composition. The artist has captured all the magic of the buildings in the old town of this iconic destination.

  • French Impressionist View of Paris, Le Pont Marie and Île Saint-Louis
    Located in Cotignac, FR
French Impressionist oil on board view of a fisherman at the riverbank of the Seine in Paris next to the Bridge St Marie, with the old spire of Notre Dame in the distance. The painting is initial signed, located and dated bottom left. Presented in a patinated wood frame. There is a trade label for the Rowley Gallery in Kensington Church Street to the backboard. A charming Impressionist painting of an iconic Parisian view. The Seine with all its reflected colours passing beneath the arches of an ancient bridge, a church spire just visible through the canopy of the trees, colourful boats moored, a fisherman sitting in the shade of the riverbank hopeful of a catch. The artist has managed to capture all the languid, quiet beauty of the scene in the midst of a bustling metropolis which is Paris. The water in the Seine is full of colour and nuance and the green of the trees give the painting a freshness. A very accomplished composition beautifully executed. Le Pont Marie crossing the Seine in Paris. The bridge links the Île Saint-Louis to the quai de l'Hôtel de Ville and is one of three bridges designed to allow flow between the Île Saint-Louis and the Left and Right banks...
