Bucolic is this verdant countryside landscape, opening up in the background into bluish fields and mountains.
In the foreground, at an imposing fountain consisting of a monumental marble base on which rests an amphora vase, a shepherd and a shepherdess engage in conversation while resting with their herd of cows and sheep.
Restored and re-tinted, the painting is presented in a late 19th-century gilt frame.
