About the Item
Oil on Canvas. Venetian school of the late 17th-early 18th century.
Within a large classical landscape with rich vegetation and rosy atmospheres is a small handful of soldiers: some, resting on top of a rock overlooking a stream, watch one of them get wet ,after laying the armor in the water.
The relation was presented in Lempertz auction in 2017 with attribution to Andrea Locatelli (1695 -1741) and estimate of €7/9 thousand; the pictorial modes of the 'work seem, moreover, closer to those of Marco Ricci (1676 -1730), also widely taken up by other authors in the Veneto area.
Restored and re-tinted, the painting is presented in a late 19th-century gilt frame.
