Né en 1883 à Fumel (Lot-et-Garonne), Guillaume Dulac étudie à l’école des beaux-arts de Bordeaux avant de rejoindre l’atelier de Léon Bonnat à l’École des beaux-arts de Paris. Il participe pour la première fois au Salon des Indépendants en 1906 et expose par la suite à de nombreux salons, dont le Salon d’Automne ou celui de la Société nationale des beaux-arts. Il y présente des nus, des paysages et des natures mortes et s’y distingue notamment par ses qualités de coloriste.
Blessé pendant la 1ère GM et réformé, il meurt par noyade à Paris en novembre 1929, au moment de l’ouverture de sa troisième exposition personnelle à la galerie Druet. Le Salon d’Automne lui rend hommage l’année suivante avec une exposition rétrospective de ses œuvres.
Ce panneau est représentatif de ses « nus féminins étendus sur des étoffes vibrantes » peints « avec de la couleur, mais aussi du sentiment »[1] dans des tonalités de vert, de rouge et de bleu brossées en oblique avec matière et vigueur.

Guillaume Dulac
Guillaume Dulac was a French artist born in the 19th century but who died while a relatively young person and about whom very little is known. He exhibited his works in Paris' Salon des Indépendants, Salon de l' Union Artistique of Toulouse and had an artistic presence in the Société Nationale des Beaux-Arts. Because of the quality of his art, his works have been sold at auction and collected internationally. Named after the artist, there is an Avenue Guillaume Dulac in the town of La Ciotat, near Marseille, in the South of France.
