From 1929 to her death in 1952, Emily Hoffmeier (1888-1952) spent summers on Nantucket, painting in the waterfront studios—first Harborview No. 3 and later moving to the Red Anchor Studio on Washington Street. She exhibited in the Easy Street Gallery, the Candle House Studio, and later at the Kenneth Taylor Galleries. After the death of Maud Stumm in 1935, Hoffmeier took over the direction of the annual Sidewalk Art Show, which she ran for the next eighteen years “with untiring cheerfulness and unflagging interest.” She was one of the founding members of the Artists Association of Nantucket and served on its first executive committee. A graduate of Mount Holyoke College, South Hadley, Massachuetts, Hoffmeier taught art classes at the college for several years. Biography:
James Roy Hopkins (1877-1969) was born in the rural farming community of Irwin, Ohio in 1877. His mother, Nettie Hopkins, painted with watercolors recreationally and encouraged her son’s artistic interests. Though he shared his mother's love of art, Hopkins initially entered Ohio State University in 1896 to study electrical engineering. However, he soon left and briefly enrolled in the Columbus School of Art before going to the Art Academy of Cincinnati where he studied with Frank Duveneck. In 1900, Hopkins moved to New York City and worked as a medical textbook illustrator. Two years later he made the pilgrimage to the art center of the western world at the time, Paris, France.

Joaquín Mir studied at the School of Fine Arts of San Jordi of Barcelona and the workshop of the painter Luis Graner. His style was also influenced by the School of Olot, hometown of his father. In 1893 forms the "Colla del Safra" along with artists like Isidro Nonell, Ricard Canals Ramón Pichot or, in the last years of the century is related to the artistic atmosphere of "Els Quatre Gats". He completed his training in 1895, the year he spent one season in Madrid copying works of Velázquez. In these years he attended the Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona, in its editions of 1894, 1896 and 1898. Winning a second medal in the Exhibition of Madrid in 1899, the same year he moved to the capital with the aim of opositar a scholarship in Rome. In 1901 solo exhibition at the Sala Parés of Barcelona the Majorcan fruit of this first stage, and gets back second medal in the National Exhibition. After a period of illness that forced him to move to Reus, in 1907 he obtained the first medal at the International Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona. Already established as a leading figure in the Catalan scene, acquires definitive national recognition in 1917 when he was awarded the National Prize of Fine Arts. Four years later he married and settled permanently in Vilanova i la Geltru. His successes happen, and in 1929 obtained first medal at the International Exhibition in Barcelona. The next year he won the medal of honor of the National Exhibition of Madrid, award pursuing since 1922. While it was a mainly indigenous painter, made personal and group exhibitions in Washington, Paris, Pittsburgh, New York, Philadelphia, Amsterdam, Buenos Aires and Venice. Serene landscape of the Putah Creek Bridge (now submerged, also known as Monticello Bridge) by Frank Willson Judd (American, 1864-1940). The Putah Creeks flows beneath an old Closed-spandrel red stone arch bridge 1896-1957 submerged intact beneath Lake Berryessa in 1957. When built this bridge was reputed to be the longest stone arch bridge in California and quite possibly the largest West of the Rockies.

Tod Lindenmuth (1885-1976). Lindenmuth was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and later worked in Provincetown and Rockport, Massachusetts, with a home in St. Augustine. A founder of the Provincetown Art Association and one of the original Provincetown Printers, Lindenmuth was a semi-abstract painter and graphic artist who did much to promote modernist styles and was well known for his modernist, semi-abstract and marine subject paintings. Lindenmuth studied with Robert Henri and was a member of the Salmagundi Club and the Rockport Art Association. He was also active in Provincetown until 1941, and then retired to Florida in the 1960s, having spent his winters there since the 1930s.
