Kenneth B Walsh (1922-1980)
In the 1950s, Kenneth Bonar Walsh came to Montauk from New York City to paint seascapes, catch fish, sing of Nature's beauty, put down roots, and, later, develop a style of painting all his own.
The Boston native moved to New York after attending the School of Practical Art on the G.I. Bill, where he began his career in the art department of Lever Brothers. But he had bigger dreams, and soon established the Bonart Studio, a commercial art business. RCA Records, the Ideal and Transogram toy companies, and the Schrafft’s candy and chocolate company were among the studio’s clients.
The business a success, he began to take vacations. He liked Montauk so much that he built a house in Hither Hills...

Judith Sobel was born in Lwow Poland in 1924. After World War II, she attended the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland. There she studied with the famous abstract constructionists, Wladyslaw Strzeminski and Stefan Wegner from whom she learned the principles of Modern Art as laid down by the European Cubists. (translated form Russian) Klever worked in a wide range of styles in a remarkable career that spanned five decades. He painted impressionist landscapes to completely abstract mixed-media constructions and most everything in between, working in oil, watercolor, ink, charcoal, generally whatever was available to paint on or with. The most obvious modern influences are Chagall, Picasso, Leger, Malevich, and various Russian Futurists.
Klever passed away after a battle with cancer the day after his 74th birthday in 2013.
Valery Kleverov was born in Engels, Russian Federation, Soviet Union June 28, 1939 the son of a fighter test pilot in the Soviet Air Force. He exhibited an independent, rebellious, and highly artistic temperament from a young age. Conscription into the Red Army at the standard age of (18) was first and last straw in the young artist’s battle with the State, he lasted only a few months before making an unauthorized parachute jump over a forest to go permanently AWOL. In his brief stint in service of the Soviet authority he had supplemented his income by selling sexy drawings...

Ritchie Allen Benson was born in Los Angeles. He studied at the Art Center School (Los Angeles) and was a member of the American Watercolor Society and the California Watercolor Society.
Ritchie Allen Bensen grew up in the Los Angeles area during the World War II era. By the late 1950s, he was studying watercolor painting and by the 1960s was exhibiting on a national level. He spent a great deal of time painting along the California coast and was most interested in producing works which pictured boats and harbor scenes.
His watercolors were sold through the Challis Gallery in Laguna Beach and through art association exhibition sales. Although he continued to paint occasionally in Southern California, most of Bensen's later works were done in Mendocino, California, or farther north in Washington state where he spent a lot of time painting on the beaches...
