Der begnadete Zeichner Karl Anton Fleck wurde vor kurzem mit einer Personalen in der Albertina geadelt. In dieser Ausstellung fehlte allerdings etwas ganz Entscheidendes: Eines der wenigen aber eindrucksvollen Ölbilder des Künstlers. Voilá!
Das Frühwerk des 1928 geborenen Künstlers Karl Anton Fleck ist von einer abstrakten Bildsprache inspiriert, in der er im Lauf seiner Schaffensperiode vermehrt figurative Elemente, die aus Körper- und Objektfragmenten bestehen, integrierte. Karl Anton Fleck stellte sich, vor allem in seinen späteren Werken, als Mischwesen zwischen Tier und Mensch dar und schafft ein reiches, vorwiegend zeichnerisches Œuvre, in dem das (Selbst-)Porträt eine immer zentralere Rolle einnimmt. Das Werk Ich in meinen Bildern sticht somit aus dem fast durchgängig graphischen Werken heraus und ist eines der wenigen Ölarbeiten des Künstlers. In tachistischer Manier bespielt Karl Anton Fleck die Leinwand mit intensiven, groben Farbspuren, die sich zu einem dynamischen Konglomerat an Pinselstrichen zusammenführen. Dargestellt ist ein verfremdetes und verzerrtes Brustbild des Künstlers selbst sowie es der Bildtitel verrät.
Nur durch die leicht angedeuteten Konturen wird die Figur vom Rest des Bildgrundes abgehoben. Grobe, pastose und feine, transparente Farbaufträge lassen das Bild besonders dynamisch und vielschichtig wirken.
