Sally K was born in Ohio following her family’s emigration from Lebanon. Shortly after her birth, her family moved to Saudi Arabia, where she stayed until she was 14. Sally attended high school and college in Beirut, where she graduated with a BA in Fine Arts with distinction from the Lebanese American University of Beirut. In 2013, Sally and her family moved back to the United States and she now paints out of her studio in California.
The focus of Sally’s portraits is contemporary women. Her style merges characteristics of abstract expressionism with realism and portrait painting to convey not just the beauty of women, but their confidence and strength as well. They are alluring, flirtatious, and demure with an inspiring femininity that Sally describes as the “sensuality, independence, and confidence you see in strong women.”
Sally’s portraits of women are intensely personal. “The women I paint are an extension of me, of what I feel, how I process my surroundings, my thoughts, my anger, my pleasure. They’re the confident strong women that I strive to be. Sometimes tough and daring, sometimes shy and reserved, but always self-assured and determined; they represent what captivates me in other women; the qualities I admire, and strengths that I strive to gain.”
Sally draws inspiration from photography, pop culture and fashion as well as artists ranging from the pop art of Willem de Kooning and Jackson Pollock to the gilded florals and figures of Gustav Klimt. Her highly regarded paintings have been featured in group and solo shows in Beirut, Dubai, Italy, and the USA. Notable collectors include Jesse McCartney and Kelly Clarkson.

The Girl from Gombe is a two-portrait series about a young girl from Gombe who is trying to find balance in her personal life in a society that does not really care much about the mental health of young people. In each portrait, her bodily pose, complemented with fresh-looking green plants and every other element in the painting tells a story about all the good and bad choices that have led her to where she is; the influence of her academics, family, religion, and the friends she surrounds herself with.
While she's fighting her insecurities, and facing a dilemma in her career choice, she seems to persevere in living. Whenever I look at my subject and listen to her talk, all I see is a beautiful girl who has fallen prey to what we all refer to as life: Abifola Olorunlana decided to narrate with paint on canvas as a reminder that no matter what the situation is, as long as we are alive our lives can always get better.

John Dalzell Kenworthy ARCA (5 Nov 1858 - 4 Mar 1954) was an internationally acclaimed artist, sculptor and writer who was born at Whitehaven into a prominent West Cumbrian family. JD Kenworthy was a noted Cumberland artist, who lived at Seacroft House, St Bees, a coastal village south of Whitehaven. He painted both portraits and landscapes, in oil and watercolour in the 50 years centred on the turn of the twentieth century. He was an associate of the Royal Cambrian Academy (1914) and he exhibited at the Royal Academy in London, as well as at galleries across Manchester, Leeds and Liverpool. He travelled to paint in Scotland and France, where he became particularly well known. He also was a keen angler, and wrote a book in 1933 called 'Fisherman's Philosophy', in which he discusses Scottish salmon and loch trout, and fishing on the French Mediterranean coast. Kenworthy's works are held in the public collections of the Beacon Museum and Helena Thompson Museum. JD Kenworthy's portraits include two of 1st World War veterans, AJ Wandless a Master Mariner and Whitehaven war hero Abraham Acton. Artist Libby Ramage shows a father and daughter being swept away by the beauty of the autumn leaves. "They try to grasp that which is beyond their size," says Libby. A horse gallops forward, representing the fading summer days. She chooses highly saturated colors to enrich the intensity of the moment. "Nature looms large in this artwork."

Libby Ramage infuses a playful and whimsical mood into her works. In fact, she credits the children she works with for greatly influencing her aesthetic. She often uses children’s abandoned work in her collages. Libby currently lives in New Jersey and finds inspiration in the work of Rauschenberg. She believes collectors should buy from the heart.
