Carmel Beach
Located in Burlingame, CA
A tranquil oil painting featuring an early evening sunset with people strolling on the main beach in Carmel in front of a majestic sky from Willard Dixon, who is one of the finest American contemporary realist painters today. Dixon has painted coastal landscapes for 35 years, capturing the undeniable beauty of the West with its grand and humble spirit. The painting, with its atmospheric light and calm color palette in natural sky blue and setting sun warm red to purple, is contemporary and serene. The colors are reminiscent of Rothko as they shift in natural bands. Looking at this painting is like looking through a window to a lovely moment as the close of a day. Dixon’s work can be found in numerous distinctive private and public collections, as well as the San Francisco Museum of Art, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art and his work is collected Internationally. Artist signed and dated. A classic Dixon that will sure to bring those who view it a life time of pleasure. Carmel Beach, 18 x 53 inches. Oil on canvas, and traditionally framed in contemporary, minimal oak floater frame. The artist was born: Kansas City MO, 1942 Education: Art Students League, New York, NY Cornell University Brooklyn Museum School San Francisco Art Institute, M.F.A. 1969 Awards and Commissions N.E.A. Seascape Watercolor Painting by George Howell Gay (American, 1858-1931)
Located in New York, NY
George Howell Gay (American, 1858-1931) Untitled Seascape, c. late 19th-early 20th century Watercolor on board 12 x 17 3/4 in. Framed: 16 1/4 x 22 1/4 in. Signed lower right: Geo Howell Gay George H. Gay was well known for his watercolor landscapes, seascapes and paintings of rivers and ships, mostly along the shores of New England. Gay also painted snowscapes, but these are scarcer. It is unusual to find an oil painting by this artist, as he worked mainly in watercolor. Some of his works display a tonalist aesthetic. He was born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin on July 2, 1858, and lived in Chicago and then in 1889, settled in Bronxville, New York. Gay was a pupil of Paul Brown and Henry Elkins in Chicago. He is known to have exhibited at the National Academy of Design in 1890; Boston Art...

French coast- 21st Century Contemporary Landscape Painting by Rutger Hiemstra
Located in Nuenen, Noord Brabant
In his studio, with large skylights, Rutger Hiemstra works on various subjects: still-lifes, portraits and, for example, large cloudy skies. In addition, he can also be found outside regularly, to make small 'plein-air' paintings. A few hours of sitting outside and painting a beautiful painting about it, that 'can not be better', according to Hiemstra. Rutger worked in Denmark, Switzerland, France and England, he also likes working in his own environment and is easily inspired by simple and daily 'things'. His self-tanned garden fence is also a wonderful subject. Inspiration enough, but time too short to draw and paint all the subjects that pass by. During our introduction to these artist, at the begin of 2017, it became clear how driven Rutger is. His own compiled book of artists that inspires him and of which he carefully studies the work is always within reach in his studio. When leaving, Rutger shows how he builds up his still lifes. A self-molded table top with potatoes 'scattered' on it. This is a while, downstairs in the living room, and here and there things change. Finally, if the composition really suits him, he will paint it. In his paintings, Rutger shows us how surprising his still-lifes, small, intimate or colorful and of great size can be. The material expression and atmosphere in the work of this artist is particularly well-suited in all formats. In January 2018 we had a big exhibition with his works, Dutch newspaper 'NRC' wrote an article about his works with the title: Anti-Depressive medication in paint by Rutger Hiemstra, we totally agree. The works of Rutger make you smile! The article in het NRC: Hiemstra's still life are antidepressants in paint Gallery Bonnard, Nuenen Rutger Hiemstra paints easter eggs, tompoucen or fresh mint in such a way that you think: but of course deserve a painting! For a child, Easter eggs are sensational. To begin with, they are bigger, if you are smaller. They have a nice shape: just not round. They shine and come in festive colors. And if you wipe off the wrapper there is no real egg, but chocolate. Later you are grown up and you know those things by now. Every year around Easter they are for sale with containers. They lie in front of the house and office. Easter egg? Yes Nice. But nothing special. Until you see them painted by Rutger Hiemstra (1975). He looks childishly at all those colorful glittering unround marbles - and he knows how to share his elation with it in a still life. Hiemstra makes Easter eggs unusual again, just as he also shows tompoucing, a glass of white wine or fresh mint, a pink cake...

Vintage 1960s Nocturnal Coastal Oil Painting – Moonlit Marine Landscape
Located in Denver, CO
"The Coast" is an original vintage oil painting from the mid-20th century (circa 1950s-1970s) by renowned New Mexico artist Marjorie Chambers (1923-2006). This stunning nocturnal marine landscape captures the serene beauty of the coast under a glowing moonlit sky. The artist masterfully uses a soothing palette of blues, greens, browns, and whites to create a tranquil, ethereal atmosphere. The painting is rendered on wood panel, signed by Chambers in the lower right corner, and titled on the reverse. It is presented in a custom frame with a dark finish and gold lip, with outer dimensions measuring 18 ¼ x 21 ¾ x 1 inches, and an image size of 11 x 15 inches. About the Artist: Marjorie Bell Chambers (also known as Marjorie Bell) was born in 1923 in New York. She became a prominent figure in both the arts and social activism, earning a degree in Art History and Political Science from Mount Holyoke College (1943) and a Master of Arts from Cornell University (1948). Chambers moved to Los Alamos, New Mexico, in the 1940s, where she raised her family and worked as a substitute teacher while her husband, William H. Chambers, worked at the Los Alamos National Laboratory. Along with her artistic pursuits, Chambers was a passionate advocate for women's rights and education. She earned a PhD in History and Political Science from the University of New Mexico in 1974, later serving as a faculty member and dean at Colorado Women's College. She was appointed to the National Advisory Council on Women's Educational Programs in 1976 and was vice-chair of President Carter...

Cheviot in Winter (Country Landscape Painting of Hudson River in the Winter)
Located in Hudson, NY
Impressionistic landscape painting of the Hudson River during the wintertime in tones of grey, white, slate, blue, dark brown and green Oil on linen, 22 x 28 inches John Kelly approaches the Hudson Valley landscape with the eye of an architect and the hand of an impressionist. With intense attention paid to form and light, Kelly nevertheless manages to abstract the landscape just slightly, breaking earth, sky, and atmosphere down to their most elemental qualities. In this painting, a body of water, solidified into ice, stretches toward a murky treeline. The painting is composed primarily in a palette of pale blue, gray, and pink, with white, dark green, and gray accents. About the artist: Hudson Valley based painter John Kelly received his education from the Art Institute of Boston and Buffalo State. He has been exhibiting around the northeastern United States since the 1970s.
