About the Item

Available in multiple sizes. High-end framing on request. All prints are done and signed by the artist. The collector receives an additional certificate of authenticity from the gallery. This Massimo Listri photograph captures a modern library or study space with distinct Japanese architectural influences. The composition is characterized by strong geometric patterns and symmetry, a hallmark of Listri's architectural photography. The image shows a wall of eight identical window-like panels with traditional Japanese grid patterns (known as kumiko), each illuminated from above by individual spotlights that create a warm, golden glow. The repetitive pattern of these screens creates a striking rhythm across the image. In the foreground, there are study tables or desks arranged in a parallel formation, their light wood surfaces reflecting the overhead lighting. Below these tables, there are built-in bookshelves containing what appears to be a uniform collection of dark-bound volumes, possibly a reference set or complete collection of some kind. The shelving units are painted in a golden or light yellow color that complements the overall warm tones of the space. The lighting in the photograph is particularly notable - the way Listri has captured the interplay between the warm artificial lighting and the materials creates a sense of depth and dimensionality. The composition is perfectly symmetrical, with the repeating elements of the screens, desks, and bookshelves creating strong horizontal lines that draw the eye across the frame. The overall effect is one of order, serenity, and scholarly purpose, combining elements of contemporary design with traditional Japanese architectural elements. This synthesis of styles and the attention to geometric precision is beautifully emphasized by Listri's photographic technique. Massimo Listri is an Italian photographer renowned for capturing the most grandiose architecture that man has to offer. His captivating images of palazzos, villas, and libraries, vast and silent, are carved out by symmetry, contrast, and light. Composing images that lead the eye into the framed pictorial space, Listri offers an entry into the majesty of landmarks, such as the Metropolitan in New York, the Vatican Museum, the Museum of Modern Art in Buenos Aires, and the renowned architecture of Niemeyer in Sao Paulo. Frozen in time yet full of history, Listri’s photographs are a commitment to absolute beauty.
