About the Item
A formal and highly balanced composition based on the random positions of pigeons caught the eye of street photographer Mitchell Funk. Each pigeon has it's own pose and personality. Since he always has a Nikon on his person, he acted immediately to capture this perfect and harmonious relationship. Seconds later, new pigeons arrived, jockeyed for space, and the magic relationship disappeared. Funk's street photography has always been a voice for tight design, color, and carefully composed compositions.
The photograph is signed, dated, numbered, 2/15 lower right; another size is available. Unframed, printed later Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper.

Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
