Joshua Lutz is an American artist working with large-format photography and video. Lutz began photographing the Meadowlands ten years ago as a a documentary study of the 32-square-miles of marshy wilderness that sits between New Jersey and New York (while ostensibly searching for the remains of Jimmy Hoffa). Over the years, however, this project evolved into a compelling artistic exploration, revealing the soul of this liminal space.
Lutz was given his first solo exhibition at Gitterman Gallery during the summer of 2004. In 2008, “Meadowlands,” was published as Lutz's first book, with powerHouse Books. In essayist Robert Sullivan’s introduction to the monograph, he describes the Meadowlands as “. . .that giant swath of swamp and space that separates New Jersey from New York City, or, put another way, from New York City and the rest of the United States of America.” “The New Yorker” wrote: “Joshua Lutz takes the New Topographics...

300 Lancaster II aeroplanes were made, fitted with Bristol Hercules radial engines, as there was a worry that there would be a shortage of Merlin engines, reserved for the Spitfire and Hurricane.
Lily Mars was named after the 1943 American musical starring Judy Garland and was based at RAF Waterbeach, in Cambridgeshire. A podcast gives details of the final flight on 13 June 1944 which was to be the final raid of the crew’s tour. The bombing raid was of 303 Lancasters against the Nordstern synthetic oil plant at Gelsenkichen in the Ruhr, deep inside Germany and the aircraft took off at 23.12 hrs. On the home run LL678 was intercepted and shot down by a night fighter capitained by Oberleutnant Schmidt in a Bf 110 at 01.24 hrs at Zuidloo, a small hamlet, where five of the eight crew are buried; the other three crew members baled out and escaped. The Robin Rice Gallery proudly announces SUMMERTIME Salon 2018, an annual photography exhibit featuring gallery artists as well as a few newcomers. This year’s opening reception will be held on Wednesday, June 27th from 6 – 8 PM, and the show will be on view until September 23rd, 2018
Rice has brought together the works of 55 gallery artists and nearly a hundred photographs for this salon-style exhibition. From floor to ceiling, the walls of the gallery are a mosaic of various size photographs in sepia, color and black & white, expertly hung to fit together like pieces of a puzzle. “This is my favorite exhibition even though it takes months to curate and a week to install,” says Rice. “I love the moment when a viewer is first drawn to an image. Sometimes in’s indefinable; a moment when the viewer not only shares but reconnects to an experience remembered.”
Each year, the Summertime Salon matures and Rice’s annual masterpiece is revealed to showcase an exhibition stronger than the year before. Rice has a close relationship with the works of her photographers, and strategically curates the show to best exemplify the artists’ strengths, remaining cohesively linked by Rice’s aesthetic.
This year’s invitational image, Hoop and Ball by Nenad Samuilo Amodaj is from a series of one hundred photographs. Rice chose three photographs from Amodaj’s series to create a triptych on the back wall of her gallery for this exhibition. The invitational image is of a standing semi-nude woman in profile wearing a hoop skirt. Her entire head rests inside of a large white plaster ball that she holds above her. He explained: “I wanted to explore the abstract architectural properties of the hoop skirt, a clothing item with curious geometric form that appears both in nature and in the world of artifice.” Before photographing the model he created numerous figure drawings that helped solidify his vision for the series.

Tao Ruspoli (born 7 November 1975) is an Italian-American filmmaker, photographer, and musician.
Background
He is the second son of occasional actor and aristocrat Prince Alessandro Ruspoli, 9th Prince of Cerveteri by Austrian-American actress Debra Berger. Tao was born in Bangkok, Thailand and raised in Rome and Los Angeles. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy.
Career
Moviemaker magazine singled out Ruspoli as one of the 10 Young Filmmakers To Watch in its spring 2008 issue. His feature narrative debut, Fix, was one of 10 feature films to screen in competition at the 2008 Slamdance Film Festival and soon afterward at the Santa Barbara International Film Festival where Ruspoli was awarded the Heineken Red Star Award for 'most innovative and progressive filmmaker.' Fix also won the Festival Award for Best Film at the 2008 Brooklyn Film Festival, Vail Film Festival and the 2008 Twin Rivers Media Festival, as well as other prizes at several international festivals. His most well-known documentary is Just Say Know, a personal discussion of his family's drug addiction. His other films include Flamenco: A Personal Journey, a feature length documentary about the flamenco way of life as it is lived by Gypsies in the south of Spain. He has directed a number of other short documentaries, including El Cable (also about Flamenco), and This Film Needs No Title: A Portrait of Raymond Smullyan (a portrait of the renowned logician, mathematician and concert pianist Raymond Smullyan). Tao founded LAFCO in 2000. The Los Angeles Filmmakers Cooperative, is a bohemian collective of filmmakers and musicians who work out of a converted school bus. Through LAFCO, Tao has produced several films and helped dozens of filmmakers to make their first films and discover the wonders of digital media. His producing credits include the feature film Camjackers, which he also acted in and co-edited. Camjackers won the best editing award at the 44th Ann Arbor Film Festival. Tao is an accomplished flamenco guitar player, and his first CD, FLAMENCO, was released on Mapleshade Records in 2005. He married actress Olivia Wilde in 2003. They divorced in 2011. The press around Burning Man had gotten so bad that I almost felt embarrassed to be going this year. Even Daniel Pinchbeck, famed psychonaut and burner par excellence, had written a thoughtful piece explaining why, after 15 consecutive years, he wasn’t going back this year: the festival had changed too much-the rich had taken over, it had gone from a relevant and fascinating social experiment to epitomizing the worst elements of capitalist excess. Besides, he seemed to be saying, the world is going through too many crises, both ecological and humanitarian, to justify the extravagance of an event like this.
